HTC HD2 vs HTC Nexus One – browser comparison Mark II

Pocketnow has published another comparison between browsing speed on the HTC HD2 and the Google Nexus One, this time using Skyfire on the HD2.

In contrast to the last video, on this occasion Skyfire is much faster at presenting the web page on the Windows Mobile handset compared to the Android version.

Is this a reasonable comparison? Let us know below.

To me it's exactly other way round. Progress bar indeed disappears faster on skyfire, but the actual content shows much faster on Nexus One. Isn't content what we care about?

It's 1.5 I believe, came out a month or so ago.

The display of the main content matters.

As a WM user I'm sad to say that Nexus 1 is still faster in what really matters: displaying the content 1st on screen the fastest.

they should rematch with Opera mobile 10 with turbo mode on and see how that goes.

brandon sounds a bit dissapointed though to see skyfire finishing before the N1 in all the tests, he was excited the other day with the other match to see the N1 winning. or is it that the hypness he felt when he just got he N1 is now wearing down a bit?

Is he doing all his tests using WiFi? If yes, that's not a real-world test. Most of the users wont find free WiFi everywhere they go (and may avoid turning on WiFi all the time to preserve their battery), so I would prefer to see the test using 3G.

I realize that some have come to the conclusion that Opera and SkyFire is better than IE on HD2, but I wonder whether it it true on HD2 or similar 1Gz devices.

I have Acer NeoToch and IE is way better for me, as it supports Flash, dont experience checkerboad problem and I get HSPA/HSDPA speed on ATT with the device.

Hope Brandon can do the same test with IE running on HD2 vs. Nexus One over 3G.

What are you guys talking about?

Skyfire does server side rendering, that's why the page appears to load slower. Sure the pages show up faster on the Android browser, but that's just the top section and the rest is downloading. On Skyfire when the page loads the entire thing has loaded… it kind of makes it moot due to the checkbox scrolling, but you guys need to realize the difference between the two browsers. Skyfire is loading the entire webpage on its own servers then sending the whole thing to your device.
