HTC HD2 vs HTC Nexus One
Google has finally made the HTC Nexus official today, which means its time for a comparison between the two Snapdragon superphones.

Engadget has posted a review of the Nexus, and note the AMOLED screen is very oversaturated and washes out extremely badly in bright light, negating one of the major features of the handset. They also note the trackball, which serves to increase the height to virtually the same as the HD2, appears completely superfluous and does not contribute to the use of the device.
In the end the device does not appear to be either very ground breaking or much more super than existing devices, including the HTC HD2, and the new additions to the UI strangely serve to bring it closer to the HTC Sense and again not very groundbreaking.

tbh the nexus one is faster and has a more well rounded ui than the hd2 with many animations for program load and cose switch tabs in browser. The screen is gorgeous and the blacks are far nicer than on the hd2. Colours are not oversaturated as engadget claims, it is simply that they appear vibrant compared to lcd technology, they are far closer to real life than the colours on the hd2. I admit that for the first few days I made a concious efeort to learn to use the trackball moving form a touch hd which didn't have one. Its staggering useful for text editing and selcting links. Especially when you use the device one handed. The hd2 cannot be used one handed (http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=11279) or that happens. its too big for a phone and too small for a slate. Plus its little angular and ugly imo. The device has clearly been designed for that huge screen and they've had to work hard to cram it in. Screen on nexus looks proportionally correct and beuatiful rounded corners result.
Can the HD2 be programmed to run Android? …..tekken 3 looks really unplayable!
Hmm….. I love it when someone buy's a phone and then theirs becomes "the best phone ever and all other phones suck"
As an owner of both phones (I have the HD2 for work and the Nexus One as a personal phone – because I have a lot of stuff stored in the cloud) but it seems that Jos seems very biased towards WM… which is fine, but have you actually used an Android based phone?
Let's look at this – Google's Android OS is on version 2.1, where as Winmo is fine tuning it's version 7 at the moment. And in my opinion I think it's fair to say that Winmo is a format that's only just getting it right… and it's been around a helluva long time now… I mean, I'm not dissing winmo, because it's come on leaps and bounds – but because it exists doesn't make android or apple's OS a bad OS. I mean if you throw Nokia's Maemo or Symbian platforms in the mix i'd agree with your points (you have to laugh… they are piss poor).
Do you not think that other phones other than the HD2 are going to have the same Sense UI and Winmo? I guarantee the HD2 is in no way shape or form unique. So just because Google has put it's name to a phone does it make it a bad phone… I think not…
I don't think there is an argument to be had about the looks of the 2 phones. The HD2, is a brick – let's face it… It's like sticking a netbook in your pocket. The Nexus's curves are much more sleek for fitting in your pocket. A big screen contrary to your comment does not make or break what is a good phone… It's how the screen looks and if it's big enough for the job that matters. For example, your saying who wouldn't want a 4.3inch screen…. Well, It's not exactly practical when you go out is it? My HD2 feels like crap when it's in my pocket – honestly it's not all about the size of the screen!
The iPhone has 100K+ apps, the Android store has 10k+ and the Windows Market place has, like… 10? Riiiight. The Marketplace is quite anemic right now, but there is a good reason for this. Just like Apple, despite it’s lack of guidelines for approval, Microsoft is taking time to make sure the apps it presents in the store are tested to work just fine on all Window Phone devices. On the other end though, without jailbreaking, there are thousands of apps that are available that are not in the Marketplace. They are spread out along all sorts of outlets. You can grab them from our store (powered by Mobihand), you can get them from the developers, and several other stores out there. It’s impressive that Apple and the Android community has assembled a good store and some really awesome apps. Among all the great apps, there are tons of useless ones too. Based on Android’s stores organization and momentum, I give a slight edge to Android. As smartphones make it into the hands of regular, everyday users more and more, the one source for apps concept is important.
I would prefer Nexus One, personally
Nexus 1 is better period.. HD2 is a troublesome phone.. Microsoft is know for that.
I'm going to upgrade my iPhone 3G to HD2, as I was longing for Flash and anyway I want to go with WP7 when it comes. I dont' want to deal with N1, as we already knew it has lot of hardware issues.
it has multi touch due to a recent update
I'd definitely go with HTC HD2!
I have a nexus one, and no complaints other than some pictures look odd. I like it many many times better than i did my iphone, and IT DOES HAVE MULTITOUCH! GET UP TO DATE!
Nexus one has flash as well as update, and is wayyy better than iPhone and HD2, the new update 2.2, gives u so much more
People flaming winmo, you probably never used one before, or you just dont know how to install good cooked roms. LOL
HD2 ftw.
