HTC HD7 in real pictures, looks great, kickstand on display

htchd7back

The Taiwanese forum Mobile01.com have revealed the first REAL pictures of the HTC HD7/3 and it looks REALLY good.

Also on display is the kickstand, which is not where one would expect, but actually around the camera surround. Mobile01 notes the back is fully metal, which is clearly an advance on the metal battery cover of the HTC HD2.

For the HTC HD7 the only hiccup so far is the storage, but I think i can live with that ;)

More great pictures after the break.

Thanks Eric and Adrian for the tip.

Right, so HD3 is the much more logical name for the follow up to the HD2 anyways. Hopefully they get rid of this HD7 nonsense.

With no support for removable micro-SD cards, there'd better be a 16gb and 32gb option. It's a deal-breaker for nearly everyone I know. Why would I want a Zune device with only 8gb of space?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001452991690 WhoiamisnotImportant Mclaurin

Not a big deal bro j simpson, get a Zune HD (HD2 when it comes out next year).

      • ChrisLynch09

I agree with KennyB123. I do not want to buy another Zune device. I have a ZuneHD 64GB already. While I love it, I do not want to carry around two devices. The HD3 better have larger storage capacity for me and a lot of others I know.

    • Hrgomez

hahaha thank for the post… i just dicovered about the kickstand haha with two week/w the hd7..!!

btw… sock not copy & paste, not share video from or to pc .. "via email only" bluetoo only for hset.. sock sock sock…

      • HrGomez

soon da my waranti end i will chang my sd memory to 32… gb..!

  • efjay

8GB, could look like Halle Berry, no thanks.

  • Eric

First nice WP7 device from HTC I see.

    8 GB is a deal-breaker.

I think the specs are wrong. It's obiously a 16 or 32 GB device. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • GP007

Maybe if someone had a shot of the system info screen we'd know for sure.

  • HG23

This is the one. I hope it will be going to all carriers and not an exclusive…

  • http://twitter.com/MistaWet @MistaWet

Looks good to me. Also, I think the specs are right. They will also have 16gb versions and/or 32gb versions.

    • http://www.facebook.com/levi3man Levi Freeman

"They will also have 16gb versions and/or 32gb versions." htc aint apple and this isnt an iphone…they dont make multiple verisons of one phone with different storage space if thats what you mean.

to me 8gb is fine…about 6.5gb might be usable… not too bad.

  • nd47hy

microsofts big mistake is no SD card slots allowed.
I'll not be buying winpho until that changes.

    • GP007

If you have 16GB+ phones why do you need or want a microSD slot? Most people don't care once you give them enough internal storage. And I'd rather not have to jump between microSD cards with different things on them, they can get lost, and or get corrupt in some weird way.

      • Vinnie

Well the rumors are that this phone is 8GB not 16+ and thats the problem. Also it would be a lot easier to transfer files to a microsd card then have to use the zune software to sync to the device.

    • Brianna

Windows Phone 7 DOES allow SD card, it's just not removable because the WP7 OS is unable to distinguish the main memory from the SD card.

  • Eric

I can deal without SD card slot as long as we have minimum 16/32 GB internal storage.

  • tombow

so, why no front facing camera? Even my old HTC S730 has a front facing camera… OK, yeah, I never used it, but why give the hates fodder to complain about? I dear hope it comes in bigger storage capacities like everyone else is saying, because I don't give a rat ass if we get 25GB sky drive, I need off line storage when I don't have cell (or WiFi connection) – airplane mode, when I travel to other countries that don't have roaming partnership with my carrier, et. el.

  • plost99

8gb should be plenty, for music seriously how much do you need? with zune pass i plan on streaming most of the time and just download the really good stuff. Only reason for more is for video recording

    • Eric

It's not because YOU don't need more than 8 GB storage that other people shall not be allowed to use more.

Once again, 16 GB or 32 GB storage is now standard.

I'm currently usng 16 GB on my HD2, and I don't want less.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001395218690 Pantou Ekang

What are you calling "standard"?—-l love i with 8/16/ or 32 Gb…like the eyephone junkies…if you dont want it ..take an android..

  • levo

i luv the UI, but hardware like this is just ugly!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001395218690 Pantou Ekang

      look very cool for me–

    • slayr007

WOW! You obviously have no taste whatsoever. That is the sexiest phone I've seen in a long while.

  • Shawn

This is fucking bullshit, Fuck HTC, they want to resell me a HD2 with less storage when the Evo4g has more standard storage, a better processor, and A better Camera? Hopefully LG or Samsung will make a good phone for T-mobile.

  • Eric

I'm waiting for the Dell Lightning and will compare the specs.

Obviously this HD3 has very disapponting specs.

    • efjay

The Dell Lightning is the last hope, if that comes with the paltry 8GB as was listed when it was leaked I guess I'll have to wait for a decent WP7 device. The HD2 just might turn out to be the best investment I ever made.

  • John

Actually the design looks nice but with such specs, I'm not buying this one. One more thing: how much RAM does it have? Maybe 256MB? I wouldn't be surprised.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Michael.Shayne Solrac Enyahs

its a HD2 with WP7! its still hott and i want it for xmas but its nothing ground breaking like the HD2 was…HD2 REMIX LOL OR HD2 REFRESH!!

  • Eric

At this stage we suppose that the specifications of the HD2 are the following:
    - Camera: 5 MP
    - Storage : 8 GB (!)
    - Ram : maybe 256 MB
These specs are indeed very low and disappointing and are probably a deal-breaker.

But I think we should wait until we have the definitive specs. They can't be true.
I don't think HTC would have taken the risk to produce a supposedly higher end device with such low specs.
I would be suicide. They have too many competitors and now they all use the same Metro UI.

    • http://twitter.com/MistaWet @MistaWet

Hey Eric. I echo your disappointment with the memory and internal storage but why are you stressing the 8mp camera? Especially when I have one that sucks golf balls. Thanks Sprint Evo.

      • http://www.facebook.com/seifip Philip Seyfi

        lol. He's stressing it because it isn't 8MP… It is 5MP :/

  • Frank

    8 GB is not true….

  • efjay

Been saying this for a while now. HTC is just the best of a bad bunch, they arent as fantastic as so many people would have you believe.

  • http://twitter.com/MistaWet @MistaWet

Could this be the HD3 and not the HD7??

    Just a question…lol!!!

    The drama continues…..

    • http://twitter.com/MistaWet @MistaWet

I meant to say this IS the HD3 and could this be the reason they may have a HD7 model?

  • Jesse

Wonder why the date is January 1st?

    • dropqube

Because they just switched it on?
      Duh

      • Jesse

Could be, that would be a horrible presentation of first use though. Hopefully that is not the final build.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=646490523 David Talbert

I am glad that I didn't get the HD2! Lets just hope it comes with bigger storage or I will be calling HTC or facebooking them with my disappointment as this will be unable to compete with the iphone when it comes to storage. But hopefully if it does have a slot they may be future proofing it just incase Microsoft change their mind.

  • Richard

Disappointed! No storage, no 8mp camera, no front facing camera, weak RAM, no AMOLED, no HDMI out. Microsoft will probably really push the skydrive. I was prepared to switch from big red to tmo for this anticipated game changing phone and os.

  • Evan

HTC are making a big mistake. same hardware new phone? wtf…really atleast they could have gave a better camera or hdmi.

no thanks ill stick with hd2

  • http://sharkaat.deviantart.com Denis

Why do all of the HTC's devices have same spec sheet? Oh, this one has a kickstand and larger screen…that's a winning combo for me. Not. Every single of these leaked devices have 8gigs of storage, two year old cpu, and are in general – mediocre at best.

Yes, WP7 IS fast, but come on, think of upgrade-ability. What if WP7 gets more power hungry in updates to follow (by adding MT for instance)? Well, too bad you gotta buy a newer (more powerful) devices in order to keep it buttery smooth.

I can't believe I was so enthusiastic about all this WP7 hype, only to get thrown back with lousy hw. Still, there is little room that some devices will actually BE different than these leaked, although there is absolutely no proof of that.
    :(

  • Belle Couille

Calm down. I'm sure this is not the real specs. It can't be.

If it is, for instance if it has a 8GB storage only, then I will be disappointed like all of you, and will keep my HD2. But it is too early to complain or worry.

  • rxgator

My biggest problem with these specifications IMHO

WVGA Screen (my samsung galaxy super amoled is unbeatable)
    1 ghz Snapdragon

It doesn't seem like WP7 requires more than a snapdragon at this point but I would gladly trade battery life for a little future proofing of my CPU. Snapdragon is so old, people believed it was going to be on the first android phone, the t-mobile g1 which was released in October 08'.

The only difference between the HD3 and HD2 in specs seems to be storage (8gb). The battery and RAM will hopefully improved but I doubt it. I believe these to be the real specs. HD3 is most likely coming to T-mobile, who ALWAYS has under powered phones. The only phone to impress hardware wise on T-mobile was the HTC HD2 but that came with WM 6.5 (the ultimate drawback).

  • Diego!

Mmm… I agree with some of you here saying this could be HD3 and NOT HD7…

But I guess we will have to wait and see, right? I like a lot the design though I'm not very fond of that kickstand which looks ugly to me. (IMHO).

Anyway, it's either this one, HTC Schubert or Samsung Cetus to me :D

    • http://twitter.com/MistaWet @MistaWet

No doubt Diego. I can't believe the reaction some are having in this thread. The bottom line is we should just wait and see like you said. None of this makes sense and until I see some American leaks I'm not too worried about it.

Look how long it took Android to come out with the Evo and all of it's ability. It hasn't even been out for a year yet and already it went from Super Phone to being dated. These phones will come and go but what can't get lost is me knowing what I need to get done and how much of a phone I need to do it.

Anything else should be filed under emotional issues.

  • slayr007

Wow! People, 8GB of music/apps/movies is enough. The point of a smartphone is communication, not media playback, hence the low memory. If you want to play media get a f**king media player.
Oh and don't even get into the iPhone.

    • Vinnie

You aren't still using a RAZR or something are you?

So this is ONLY a communication device? The point of a PHONE is communication, but you said SMARTPHONE which is completely different breed. Have you not been paying attention to the shift in the cell phone market for the past 4 years? Why the hell would Microsoft choose to add their Zune and Xbox Live services to WP7 then? I already have a Zune HD and now why would I want to carry my less capable Zune around when I can have a WP7 device that will do it all plus more. Since you don't want MS's main competitor mentioned then I will mention Android instead.. and 8GB is weak compared to Android devices.

Are you seriously trying to tell us that you are 100% content paying probably more than any other device out there for this and only getting a 1/2 or even 1/4 of the storage of other phones out there? And having no option to expand that? Come back and reply to my post in six months when your HD7 is completely filled with only like 2 movies, some silverlight apps, a few games, a bunch of songs, and WP7 updates and tell me if your still content.

  • Scott

So can this get added to the device hub yet?

  • http://sharkaat.deviantart.com Denis

Microsoft is not limiting storage. Device manufacturers are.

    Cheers,
    Denis

  • Vinnie

This issue is not Microsoft, they are not limiting storage at all. This is hardware manufacturers holding out on us and going with minimum specs possible until WP7 actually gains popularity.

  • Alex

    I have a version: this is HD3 & its specs are real… But HD7 will be HD7 (totally another gajet) with 1280?800 & ets…
    What do you think?

  • Shah

alex your lieng. Though i hope what your saying is true, coz i was so excited about all this hype about this superphone from HTC with 1.5 GHz, 1280×800 resolution, 16/32 GB internal storage, HDMI output, 8 MP camera and 720p HD video recorder. If this is the phone and the specs for the HD phone which would destroy Apple and their iPhone, then i am very disspointed. I mean i have waited a whole year for this SUPERPHONE. BUt now its not coming. What the hell are HTC thinking, this specs are not even better than HD2
