HTC Investing $300 Million In Beats Audio

Ahead of the major announcement scheduled tomorrow, HTC CEO Peter Chou revealed that HTC is investing $300 million in Beats Audio maker Beats by Dr.Dre. As part of the investment, HTC will provide Beats audio technology in its devices and Beats Audio will be exclusive to HTC mobile devices. HP, one of the largest customer of Beats Audio technology will be restricted to use in only on PC’s and Laptops not on webOS based smartphones. Currently, HTC devices comes with Dolby Mobile and SRS enhancements for Audio which is pretty good. Chou added that first HTC devices with beats technology will come later this year.

now all you need to do is to improve camera lenses, displays, nand flash, microphones, batteries, reception, (Non)Sense etc.

This will get the youth market! I have to admit the sound quality on my HP laptop with beats is good! At least they have sorted the sound problem they just need to sort out the camera, screen, battery, memory need I say more.

Nokia just need to announce a deal with Bose and there will be no competition!

I have Dell XPS and have to say nothing can beat JBL sound on these XPS systems. in their phone and

I don’t know about HP laptops and their sound quality but some friends that have HP laptops they admit theeir laptop can not beat Dell XPS sound quality.

So all nokia needs is JBL, or maybe Bose on their phone and almost no competition.

Having Beats in a HTC phone will not make me buy a new HTC phone like some people have been saying due to this announcement. I’m sick of my camera and having to delete music off my phone due to lack of storage and having to charge my phone every minute or reduce the brightness of the screen to save battery.

Out of curiosity, don’t the other OEMs provide a sound equalizer on WP7? I’m currently using a HD7 and am VERY glad for the equalizer feature. I plan to upgrade to a newer gen device once Mango is out, but partially worried that even a simple feature like this may not be available across all device

I have always thought that Apple products sounded like a garbage truck rattling down the back streets. Scrap that; at last a Garbage truck would be doing the job it’s paid good money for. Good on you HTC now let’s see you implement Beats Audio successfully

htc can’t be serious. they’ll make us pay much more for our phones to recoup that
also, dr dre? any decent audiophile worth his salt will never pay money for such crap.
maybe htc should take a leaf from cowon and implement stuff like bbe instead
but then….maybe i’m not the target audience for such ‘entertainment’ devices.

i’m probably overreacting, but this screams ‘GIMMICK’ to me
