HTC Omega for sale on auction site with first real-life pictures!

photo5 photo3

The HTC Omega has shown up on an Algerian auction site for only 370 Euro.  The device is expected to be announced on September 1st by HTC at numerous locations around Europe and is said to feature a 1.5 Ghz processor and 8 megapixel camera.

The ROM appears to be Orange branded, and the language French, likely giving a clue to the carrier where the phone will show up first.

It’s just a useless app – you can remove it with two taps :-)

Sorry but this takes the cake for the ugliest WP7 device yet.

I too prefer my Windows Phones more square.

Yup, I stand by my initial impressions too. This is shockingly bad.

Sign me up please… Just very unpleasant. Seems like the Hero counterpart of Windows Phone 7..

Is it confirmed that it has a front facing camera? those holes near the earpiece look abit too small to be a camera. Hope I’m wrong.

    • Anonymous

I think those are proximity sensors and a notification light

What’s up with the bottom part of the phone – it looks quite ugly and a lot of unnecessary bulk that will take up space in your pocket for no reason. Very much android style design and very little that resembles the strict lines and graphic nature of the windows phone OS. Just changing the color of a lackluster design to make it a windows phone won’t cut it, at least not for me.

What’s up with the Jay Leno style chin? If it weren’t for that this phone would actually look hot.

The renders looked nice, but in reality this just looks like a white android device with tons of wasted space at the bottom. I predict poor sales AND poor reviews.

Microsoft, time to wake up, your “partners” are no more than saboteurs (just read the news of the cross-platform chat app that doesnt include the WP7 platform). Get rid of all of them and stick solely with Nokia!

    • Anonymous

Agree with you.  But this device will sell – to some if for nothing else but for the fact that it is not a black phone.

I really hope the rumors are true about Nokia releasing up to 12 devices.  One thing that is true, is that Jo Harlow of Nokia stated that they would be releasing WP devices every two to three months; so hopefully this will translate to around two or more devices at each release cycle.

Nokia, my money is waiting for YOU!

    • Anonymous

Yah, I said the same about Samsung leaving WP7 out.

I wished that somehow Microsoft takes it’s business and do it alone; Of course I know it represents leaving their partners on the cold.. But a necessary risk in my opinion. (I know it would face anti-trust scrutiny anyways).

    What’s wrong at the bottom?

Not very beautiful, not very elegant, not very innovative. Looks like a Mozart/Android device revamped in wight color :(

HTC continue to show the industry that they’re the master of making hideous phones. Gonna sound hipster-like but HTC were far better back in the Winmo days. The HD2 was gorgeous and so were many of their phones prior to that. People that are into HTC phones didn’t even have a clue about them back then and I got downvoted on Youtube on the HTC-Beats video because I said Beats were awful overpriced headphones and HTC make crappy phones.

  • http://twitter.com/fganser Nando Ganser

square and thin rather than rounded and thick!

  • Anonymous

This doesn’t looks nice compare to rendering picture.

BUT this is perhaps an early prototype device. If you compare it with rendering picture, you will see Windows Phone logo in back is circle but now Windows Phone logo is square!

I am sure this is just an early protoype and maybe thats why it doesn’t looks nice as the one we saw in rendering picture.

Also the colors on back is doesn’t really match the rendering picture and not white really

I think we have to wait and see the real final product. This is just early prototype with bad quality picture.

After you use a 4.3 screen anything less the 4″ frails in comparison.

    Isn’t it a QWERTY slider?

  • http://twitter.com/danrivhor Daniel Rivero Horie

    So, no front-facing camera?

  • Anonymous

Meh. I personally won’t buy another HTC phone until they get serious about their cameras. Nokia, Samsung & Apple all have way better cameras. Seems like HTC just recycles the same lower end crap lenses in all of their phones (even their flagships).

I’m personally holding out for some Nokia Sea Ray or the Samsung Galaxy S II equivalent.
