HTC Whitestone, Mega and Tachi – brand new renders revealed

WMExperts have been lucky enough to be at the receiving end of some hot tips. Thanks to this tipster we now finally know what the HTC Whitestone and Mega looks like, and have seen a slightly updated picture of the Tachi.

The HTC Whitestone appears to be a jewel-encrusted monster, with a 3.6 inch WVGA screen, running, as has long been rumoured, Windows Mobile 6.1.

The new leaked specs are as follows:

WM6.1
Qualcomm 7600 @ 528MHz
512MB ROM/256MB RAM
3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen
5-megapixel autofocus camera/Anti-handshaking
gpsOne (aGPS and full GPS)
GSM/CDMA World phone

The device is expected to arrive around September to October on Verizon.

The HTC Mega is a low-end QVGA smartphone running ToucFlo 2D, but will actually runs Windows Mobile 6.5.

The specs are as below:

256MB ROM/256MB RAM
2.8-inch QVGA (240×320)
GSM/GPRS Edge/HSDPA

Lastly is the HTC Tachi, which is heading to China, sees a slightly updated render also.

Whitestone appears to have a 'TV' button amidst the 'default four'. In any case, the specs are substandard however (esp. in the processor/graphics dept), in the case of Whitestone and Mega. However, Mega is a low-end device so is justifiable whereas Whitestone is more difficult to justify.

Basically looks like Whitestone = TP2 – keyboard + TD2 camera…

Something is wrong with HTC, Releasing devices that virtually the same , same old slow CPU, no GPU, old slow outdated OS, only packaging are little bit different.

What's with 528MHz processors? Do they get them for free. Spec are virtually the same as at TP2 or Diamond 2. This is a bit disappointing.

HTC should move on, to faster processors, etc.

Why does China get a D-Pad but the rest of us don't?!?! Not fair! Also, I agree. 528Mhz processors? Really? The fact they could fit a "TV" button in the middle and still have room for the completely pointless "zoom strip" shows there is plenty of room for a D-Pad. Who the heck does their face designs?
