IM+ updated to version 1.1, now supports Windows Live Messenger

An update for the rather expensive IM client from Shape Services, IM + v 1.1, is now in Marketplace.

The update fixes the biggest issue with the software to date – the lack of support for Windows Live Messenger, speculated at the time to be due to a block by Microsoft.

Hopefully the update will also address others issues cropping up in reviews of the app, which complains of lag, sluggish performance, slow message delivery and much more, resulting in the app scoring only 3/5 starts.

IM+ costs $4.99 and can be found in Marketplace here.

Thanks Phillip for the tip.

And there goes all the hysteria about Microsoft blocking Windows Live Messenger access for a competing IM client… ha-ha.

I need help. I got the Mango but some contacts are not showing the Live Messenger Chat option. If anyone knows how to fix it, please share. Thanks. If there’s no fix, I might have to buy this app.

Microsoft clearly stated that the Mango Developer Beta is solely meant for developers to test their applications on, when using the newly available APIs. It has specifically been said *not* to use it on your primary mobile device.

So far, this is a known issue that is already fixed in more recent builds (the developer beta is 2 months old already). There are no known solutions for those using Mango right now.

OK, good to know. I wasn’t sure if I screwed up or it’s a bug so rare that MS won’t bother to fix in near term. Also good to know the beta most people got last week is already two months old…makes me feel more optimistic about the fall schedule.

Mine works without a hitch… But yeah – what you said :D

I can see it in the Market place using the Zune desktop software but cannot download it since it says “you already purchased this app”. I checked the marketplace on my phone and still showing 1.0. Forced update check and still came back with 1.0 :( Has it been pulled already?

    Finally something positive…. Reviews?

      Updated to 1.1.

I only use this for Skype-to-go, which I need for work.

Waited for the app for a few minutes to load my contacts then gave up. This thing is unusable.

Connect to MSN is very slow.

Maybe in Mango with sockets support it will run faster

Mango is goign to render IM+ useless.
I’m using it right now and I seriously see no need to have a 4.99 app that does a few extra services above what’s already present in Mango.

There no ICQ/AIM integrated in mango. No Skype integrated.
All this “integrated IM’s” idea seemes wrong for me, because there some protocols, that are not integrated and anyway you will install additional software….

Just bought the 1.1 version. I don’t think it’s half bad, actually. The performance isn’t blistering, but I’d say its comparable to most RSS-feed readers (unfortunately that means it is a little sluggish – but not categorically worse than similar programs). Based on a quick test, there can be a delay in getting notifications, but most of the time it worked very well. It is shameful what they did with the pricing – it should’ve never been $10, but at least they dropped the price quite quickly. I do feel bad for the early adopters.

They’re probably charging so much for this as they know that once Mango hits, it’s pretty much dead with MSN and FB chat integrated into the software and Skype will be eventually too.

Don’t waste your money on this piece of trash. Its slow and buggy, not worth the money they are asking for.
Tile notifications don’t exist despite the claim they do, toast notifications are erratic and random. I cant believe MS let these people mug us like this.

Very slow software. But the only, with skype and ICQ.

Very nice. I needed it and works great, Messenger by Miyowa sucks, the worst program ever!! if you compare those two, IM+ is very fast!

Yeah, I bought the 1.1 version, too. MSN Support is what I was lloking forward to and the price is very fair. It takes a while to connect (20 seconds), but tile and toast notifications work fine on my HTC 7 Mozart. So, now I enjoy MSN ICQ and FIM on the go. nice :)
