Joe Belfiore Responds To Windows Phone 7 Update Fiasco

image

Joe Belfiore: He is listening.

Joe’s recent interview on Channel 9 has created a great deal of conversations and many niners and consumers expressed angst with the update process. Joe has responded to the video after seeing comments and discussions going on in various blogs.

Many of you are making critical comments here which are certainly fair. First, I was wrong when I said “most people have received the February update.” There are many of you who have yet to receive it, and I don’t blame you for speaking up and pointing out my mistake. Second, I referred to our updates as “complete” because I was thinking of the internal process where we pass completed software to another group who delivers them – but of course no update is complete until you all have it. Plus, at the time I did the interview we had started the NoDo (“march update”) delivery process and I knew “it was going well” from our perspective: people were officially getting it, the success rate of its deployment on real-world phones was looking good, and we were happy that the process had STARTED well. Still—these are NOT the same as all of you getting it and I’m sorry that I came across as insensitive to that fact.

I am a very, very big advocate for all our end-users and developers, and it bothers me a lot if I sounded out of touch. I wasn’t as prepared for this interview as I should have been—I walked into the studio with an informal state of mind, thinking about MIX and what we WILL be talking about, and I didn’t have the right up-to-date information to give a good explanation on updates which I know to be a very high-interest topic right now.

I have read all of the comments here (and many of them on the other blogs) and so has pretty much everyone in our management team. We know it’s been frustrating to wait for features/fixes and (probably worse) to hear little from us on specific dates. We are sorry the process has been rocky. The “where’s my phone update” table is our first step to try to remedy this in the face of technical problems that have made our first wave of updates take longer than we expected. We know the table would benefit greatly from more detail, and we are hoping to add more to it by working with the Operators who own the “testing” phase to get more clarity. If your phone is shown in “scheduling”, it’ll be worth checking the table next week.

In the spirit of “MIX as a conversation” – I will make sure that when I show up in Vegas that I’m well prepared to give an update in person and to try to answer your questions as best I can. You folks are obviously a very important audience for us and it’s right for you to expect us to communicate and execute better. I know at this point it’s our actions that matter… The main thing we are trying to do is to get the updates out to everyone in a way that is reliable and works, and then make our process better and more transparent in the future.

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks to Mahi for the tip.

I never was a big fan of OTA updates, i will always prefer updating through my cpu instead of through my carrier

  • http://www.facebook.com/michael.w.louwrens Michael Wallace Louwrens

Honestly though, from my side, it looks like it has been going fine.
Did nobody ever own a Nokia that they liked? My 5800 kinda sucks now, but back when it 1st came out it was decent to say the least.
Nokia ALSO worked with the carriers to get software out, aka let them do testing, even though Nokia distributed the software itself.

Rolling updates were normal and everyone was happy in 2 – 3 weeks.

Android has 2 phones that get updated regularly, though as they are special, in comparison to other Android phones, Google is left with ALL the responsibility. Simply if an update breaks the phone for carrier X, moan at Google.

Apple has one phone(I realise different models with different receiving chips), overseas it also has countless deals to make them exclusive, special treatment is just part of those deals.

MS is at least TRYING to keep everyone happy remember, if the carriers aren't happy, they will stock your phone and tell everyone how useless it is. If they don't like it, small 1st batch, don't get anymore owing to poor sales.

  • wreiad

And all is well again. I think part of the anger has to do with the fact that Microsoft actually announced their updates, as opposed to folks like Apple keeping mum.

  • sel

He is talking about carrier locked phones.. What about my HTC hd7 unbranded. I didn't receive nodo

    • GP007

You should, I dunno why they're going as slow as they are still but you, and everyone else, will get it. It's not a question of "if" but just "when". Some will get it faster than others. It took 3 days for me to finally get it on my unbranded LG Optimus 7.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jvillaro Jose Antonio Villaro Matute

Did you get the "NoDo" update? I have an unbranded, unlocked Optimus 7 and I still can't get the Nodo update, but I did get the February "preupdate" quickly.
Where do you live? I got mine on the us amazon, it's an European "international" version (Can I assume intended for Portugal because the instructions are in Portuguese?), but I live in Venezuela. Have you read anything that would matter?

    • alexd7777

Probably, they just send them in waves, depending on serial number, carrier, country, model and so on and look, if smth gonna broken or everything is ok.

But why it's not explained. Just tell us, how it works! Not simply – "updating started". Because people talking each other on forums. Of course, than it's not really understandable, why someone's phone is updated, and the same but other phone – isn't..

      • WP7Fan

it ONLY depends on device, carrier / unbranded, and current version.

So the only reason he doesn't have it yet, is because of the throttled schedule

i'm not sure. There is german forum pocketpc.ch, were people talk about WP7 too. So, same phones models in same situation (unbranded, provider) have a different situation with WP7.

I tried myself yesterday by removing SIM, changing between two phones (have unbranded Mozart and branded Trophy), using VPN proxy as I would be in another country. It does't help nothing!.

After I used network monitor to check a protocol between WMZuneComm.exe and Microsoft servers. The device number is clearly there. Looks like they randomly selected devices for updates, based on its serial number too.

    • JHP

You tried checking for updates in Zune right?

      • selva

        yes

  • kevin

Joe Belfiore seems like a nice guy. I'm sure he's a busy man, but I think the more he can be the public face of WP7 the better. I appreciate this update.

As much as people are impatient and love to complain and moan, all anyone really wants is information. I don't have either update but if AT&T, my carrier, told me when I could reasonably expect it I would be satisfied.

I just think of my job and when a customer asks me, "when will I get X?" telling them, "I have no statement about that right now" is not an acceptable answer.

Speaking of information, what ever happened to that MS community rep who popped up a couple weeks ago? He did one blog post and then disappeared! Keep up the good work xD

  • bobk

Since WP7 is late to the smart phone party, Microsoft has to work much faster than Apple or Google. MS should be doing major updates at least every 3 months. How can MS catch up at this rate when iOS 5 is only a couple months away?
Joe Belfiore and the rest of WP7 deserve credit for creating a great product, but Microsoft has to start moving like a startup company not a lumbering corporation. The fact that Microsoft won't release a WP7 tablet is another sore point with WP7 users.
It's unfortunate to see people waiting in line for an iPad 2 when the best mobile OS, WP7, can't even get an update completed!

    • JHP

If you think there can be a major software upgrade every three months, I'm afraid that you do not know anything about software development…

      • bobk

You think 2 updates a year is sufficient? Sorry, the software company you work for will be out of business with that schedule IF competition is fierce. Software updates for a 1.0 product cannot be slow. The supposedly long list of major features added in Mango should be released as they are done, and not released in one package at end of year. There is no reason why the Multitasking feature and IE9 have to be released in the same update package.

        • bobk

By the way, the software company I work for released updates every 4-8 weeks for our 1.0 product. Then again, we're not a billion dollar company. :)

There is NO fiasco all this crying and complaining is over nothing. Everyday I come to these blogs for tech news and all i see is people tearing Microsoft a new one for having to wait God forbid 3 more weeks for a minor update. If WP7 had a defective bug that was ruining the user experience like say AppleTV I would be the first one calling for somebody's head but this update is to add features and performance not fix a huge gaping problem. The constant complaining is getting annoying and I find it absolutely amazing that if they rushed this update to appease all you guys and there were bugs of any sort that started crashing phones you all would freak screaming that they should have waited a few weeks to make sure it was right. Man I'm so sick and tired of this BS on these blogs. Apple releases defective products constantly and buggy updates and all you hear from our side is wishing MS was more like Apple gtfoh. And people praising Google of all companies for offering quick updates when 50% of their phones don't even have the 2nd last OS let alone the newest one it just boggles my mind.

    1. when they iron out delivering updates, there will be many and they will be swift. Microsoft knows how to do this better than anybody including Apple and Google. I get updates on win7 and Xbox360 frequently and they are all smooth and painless but people forget they didn't start out that way it takes time to iron things out but when they do they are the best at it.

    2. Comparing a 1.0 OS 5 months old with iOS 4.3 and 3.0 Android is ridiculous on its face on any level. And i really doubt your tech credibility if you think that the iphone and Android weren't missing major features when their OS was first launched. It took Apple 2 freaking years to get cut and paste and you guys are having a heart attack waiting for 5 months some perspective might be nice on a blog dedicated to WP7 I'm just saying.

    3. Wishing Microsoft was like Apple Google or Blackberry while ignoring their faults is equally foolish and anybody that spouts this nonsense but claims to be a power Windows user is suspect at best and a fraud plant at the worst I know who you are and roll my eyes at your posts.

Hell yeah WP7 is missing some really big things and I wish the upgrades would come sooner rather than later just like everybody here. I check zune desktop every day to see if the update is here but I also put things into perspective. I for damn sure would rather this update doesn't crash my phone so if that means I need to wait a few more days or weeks so be it… I'll Live and so will you.

If you didn't like my rant how bout you stop b#tching on this blog and contribute some positive feedback for a change.

      WOW!! My HERO!

    • gs1968

No need to be apologetic about your post. Its right on target. How often does one use copy/paste on their desktop to miss that feature on your cell phone? The media is trying to discredit MS to prevent the OS from taking off as they are fully aware of the enormous potential of the platform. Most of the pretty faces with peanut brains who are buying this are happy as long as Facebook,Twitter and other SN sites work fine. The WP7 Facebook app is the best I have seen.Everybody should go to amazon.com and type in the name of the WP7 model and read the reviews. All the people buying these phones are pleasantly surprised and honestly positive about the phone. They seem to acknowledge some shortcomings but it does not prevent them from rating the phones very high (4 or 5 stars). Also it is exactly this word of mouth which is going to propel sales and overcome all the trolls that visit these sites

      • bch

The Facebook app crashes whenever you try to read a message, unfortunately, and its rating on the Marketplace has dropped like a stone. The OS baked-in Facebook features work great though.

    • Iliopoulos Dimitris

you think that who receives the updates and when is a minor problem? and if a carrier do tests for an update for a couple of months it is ok? you think that the update process as a process is ok? WP7 is a very good OS and has very good features but that has nothing to do with the update process. I see people saying that i don't really need copy and paste and i agree but has nothing to do with the update process! if you are a developer and you create an app you will create it with copy and paste in mind or not? and how will you do speed testing on the code to undestand if it is ok or not for your users? with what version of the os? so prior to writing that MS is fantastic and Joe Belfiore is your hero try to understand that for WP7 to suceed must be an ecosystem that the users have faith in, not a good mobile OS that is feature dependent on the carriers!

      • http://twitter.com/DJMicMayhem @DJMicMayhem

It is unfortunate that you didn't really read my post before you wrote your snarky reply because it makes it difficult to have a honest discussion with you on this topic. I said MS is no better or worse than their competitors at this stage in the game because the reality is they ALL had growing pains. I also never said I don't want or need cut and paste, I'll survive and so will you until we get no-do in a matter of days not years.

My question to you is where is your perspective? While I'm not happy with missing features or having to wait, here in the real world Apple's update process is still bumpy as hell and Google's update process is nonexistent. I find it amazing people bend over backwards to give apple and Google a pass on their issues but everything MS does is the end of the world. The hyperbole on internet blogs is mind boggling. If your faith is lost on wp7 because of this update process switch phones don't blog about it.

        • Iliopoulos Dimitris

I read your post really carefully and i don't understand why you are so offensive on me. what i am saying is that Microsoft (not me) on all the developer previews that i have been before the launch of WP7 (Athens and Milan) was saying to developer audience that they have learned from WiMo and they are not going to repeat the same errors that destroyed the platform, We (Microsoft) are going to deliver the updates directly to the phones, not the OEMs, not the carriers. I am not telling this, Microsoft told that. In all the discussions Microsoft delivered Apple was the competitor and not android(which is by far more fragmented than WP7), and in terms of update process Apple is by far better than WP7, this is the fact, not my opinion. I am writing this not because i want to change handset as you say but because even now after all this comments from lot of people the only official response from Microsoft was that Belfiore wrote an emotional letter saying that he wasn't ready for the interview and speaking generally about the future of update process and not telling that the update process in the future will be immediate and exact for every device covering some standards. do you get my point? i think that we are on the same side, not the opposite! i write code for WP7 and try to live making so, I am not an Apple user in any product, but when it comes down to update process Apple is way ahead and this must be corrected if we want WP7 to become big! The thing is that MSFT is not saying that it will be corrected, they say that it will be more transparent. I will have to see what Belfiore will say at MIX and what the official stance of Microsoft will be on this topic but i think that we are taking the wrong road! I didn't have any intension to offend you if i did so!

    • E1934

It's easy to say that from the US. But in other countries we can't even see youtube videos inside IE. A huge problem… and guess what? It's not fixed in NoDo.
And what about the "Update All Apps" button in Marketplace? Yep, still not fixed.
At least browsing the marketplace works perfectly now. Oh wait, it doesn't. It still jumps randomly to the beginning of the list when you get back from app pages.

      Way to go, Microsoft.

    • talksavvy

OMG thank you for writing this!!!!! I am so glad somebody finally stated what I've wanted to say for a minute and you hit every point dead on!!!!!!!!!!!

    • expectafight

      *salute*

      You have my +1 sir.

I've been preaching perspective for the better part of 14 months on this site (from the initial revelation of the OS UX to the discovery of no copy and paste to the Non-sense of that BGR report about the lack of apps in November to present). It's really damn annoying seeing people complain that MS personally doesn't care about you or that Carriers only want you to buy another phone*** (see mini rant at the bottom), to people confusing problems with litigation with ignoring other countries feature/services-wise (read: non zune marketplace countries; inability of working youtube links in browser).

It not the end of the world that your phone update on your carrier wont start until the 29th or the 2nd of april. you can wait. perspective is a funny one. for those people who mention the differences the iPhone and WP7 in terms of the update process and carrier involvement, please remember:

THE iPHONE CUT/PASTE UPDATE ALSO ALLOWED MMS MESSAGING WHICH WAS BLOCKED FOR 3 MONTHS BY AT&T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

amazing how fast the world forgets the downfalls of the front runner.

(mini-rant: to those of you who are complaining about the carriers involvement in update processes, please take into account a few things before your next post.
      1) Carriers still have a role in what phones are developed and accepted to their portfolio. some phones have to be reworked before they can be released by a carrier (see galaxy S 2010 phones, the touch pro 1 and 2). With that being said, it's a little unreasonable to think that they wouldn't have anything to do with the updates with that product.

      2) with a phone being reworked, the software that takes advantage of those features still needs to be tested.

      3) Any phone purchased with a contract is subsidized, meaning the carrier is taking a "risk" and is investing in the consumer for the agreed contract length. Unless you are purchasing an additional unsubsidized phone, there is no significant cost benefit to a carrier to have a user buy a new phone every 3 to 4 months.

      4) updates extend the customers use of a phone, which in turn will more than likely hold a subscriber to their contract. In the US, most unlimited plans for smart phones are 80 to 100 dollars a line (family plans are 10-40 dollars more)…in buy one get one phone scenarios, the only safeguard that the carrier has to make up the money from offering a free phone is an early termination fee and occasionally a security deposit.

      5) Carriers stand to make the most money from a subscriber when the subscribers stays on for the length of s/he contract. again, that to them, is better than having the subscriber buy another carrier-subsidized phone.

Saying that a carrier doesn't want you to update a phone and that they want you to buy a new one is flat ridiculous. Once again, they live on service revenue (and add on services), not phone sales.
      /end rant)

  • OmniaFan

Belfiore is awesome! If that guy would leave – I would fear for wp7 :D

    • gfreek

+1 Joe is crucial to WP7 success, he seems genuinely interested in making WP7 an awesome OS. So I now have even more respect for him, he's not shy to admit when he's wrong! There should be more people like him at Microsoft!

  • Smith

What Fiasco!? I mean Really? Everybody will get and update will be available for users in different time in next few weeks. One get it sooner one get it a little later!

  • koyce

I love Joe's apology, though I got mine last night. I think we should be patient and encourage instead of whining and scaring other prospective customers. MS, great work

    • Iliopoulos Dimitris

Great work? you mean genarally Microsoft as a company? because WP7 is a great OS, i completely agree with that, but the update process is a really big problem!!! If you are happy to have a phone with an OS that the company who coded the OS releases an update and you are not able to get it because of a carrier or an OEM and you say that this is great work, then it's ok!

  • Bob

If anything I think Joe's apology went too far.

It's just a feature update for a phone OS after all. With whats happening in the world at the moment we can all loose a bit of perspective. This is not the Fukushima plant!

    Enjoy your WP.

    • Menny

this is a WP blog so if u dont want to hear people talking about WP, go to a news blog and hear about other shit.

but plase dont tell us what we can rant about and what we cant.

  • Iliopoulos Dimitris

I don't understand why everybody is writing comments for excusing MSFT and Joe being an OK guy and all that bullshits. Microsoft must be able to gurantee the updates and update the phones without even asking the carriers. End of story! If you remember well this was the strong point of WP7, that the update was supposed to be directly delivered from microsoft and not anyone else! Can somebody come out and tell that Microsoft gurantee that all the phones will get the update? Why do i have to depend from a carrier? Lot of people are writing that copy/paste is not important and i agree but this is not the point. Reading Belfiore response i have the feeling that Microsoft is paying more money to PR than actually developers! all they need to do is work hard and deliver the updates like Apple do!!! that's it, everything else is FAIL! So it would be better if Belfiore goes to correct the update delivery problem, but as you see in his answer he does not even mention that in the future (Mango) the update process will change and become Apple style, they don't have this target at all !! Damage control? what bullshit is this? A developer that builds software for a platform and tries to make money from it and from the FIRST update it has a fragmented audience with different editions of the OS is angry, and the reason is that the first thing MSFT was telling them is that don't be worried about updates because we will deliver them directly !!! As a developer i am really angry! i will have to master Obj C, at least they respect my work !!!!

    • Brian L

The story was always that carriers could block an update for at most one update cycle.

Microsoft were never copying the apple system for updates, apple had the privilage of only operating on one carrier. They basically went arround asking who wanted the iPhone and who ever is willing to get out of our way for software updates can have it. Verison were asked before AT&T and they refused on those conditions. Microsoft is operating much differently is is using many OEMs and many carries so they can reach as wide an audience as possible, as many price points and possible, provide consumer choise and have a strong market availble for developers. They *have* to play ball with carries as android and everyone else does. I don't see this changing in any radical way in the forseeable future. The update story is much better than android but worse that it could be right now. If you can't stand having carriers have a say in phone updates then you really can't do anything but buy an unlocked phone or buy an iPhone.

      • Iliopoulos Dimitris

have you ever thought the other way around? Let's say that Apple knows that it has created a very good Mobile OS and that the strong point of it is that want to deliver the updates to users directly without the carrier help, and is so confident of this strategy that when Verizon say they disagree make the deal with AT&T and the strategy is so strong and good that the user base of the product becomes so big and consistent that verizon come back and please Apple to have the product too with any strategy! I love Microsoft, i think that in the PC space they deliver excellent products but i don't really care about the problems of the carriers, MSFT is so big company that i am pretty sure that they can decide the strategy on their own and not depending on any carrier! The fragmentation is so big problem that they decided to stop WiMo because of that, remember? and besides that if what you write is the official story the user can decide what platform will choose, but in the beggining that was not the story!!!!

      • Iliopoulos Dimitris

Have you ever thought the other way around? Apple created a product that they thought that should be updated in a carrier-agnostic way in order to become leader in the market, and they have gone with it to Verizon and Verizon disagreed with the terms but Apple was so confident in their product and their STRATEGY that they have not given up and they found another carrier AT&T that agreed with the terms and start selling their product. The strategy and the product was that good that everybody wanted one and the user base got bigger and bigger until a point that Verizon saw that THEIR decision was completely wrong and they were loosing users in a way that was not sustainable that's why they decided to beg Apple to sell with any term they liked Iphone on their network. In the process hundreds of carriers around the globe saw that Apple's strategy is a winning one and they also tried in any possible way to have Iphone with any term Apple set to them (the update is a minor one). This is the difference between a company who believes in their strategy and their vision and a company that TRIES to keep anybody happy at any cost (remember when Steve ballmer laughed at Iphone). Microsoft has for a very long time a winning strategy on the desktop pc space, in the beggining when IBM PC was created selling only software to PC vendors was a joke but Bill Gates has the vision and the strategy that software is the key and not the "metal". As you know Microsoft because of that, in contrast with Apple who created everything on their own, dominated the OS space as few companies have ever had! same story, different space, same companies :-) (i don't have any illusion that anyone in MSFT has the vision, and the artistry of Bill, but i love MSFT and i am trying hard to change what i think are wrong decisions)

  • rsg

Belfiore is a class act, I've had that opinion of him since I first saw him at the launch of WP7.

I think we are being fairly over-dramatic over some updates and I think they are recognizing the valid points we have. They do need to improve the streamlining of the update so that say, all devices are updated in the span of a week while sticking to any of the "official" dates they announce for updates to be released.

  • lavozpococomun

You know? You NEVER saw Steve Jobs saying that he said something wrong when he said "You are holding it wrong". And he is actually not just saying that he might not thought it properly, but also sorry and he will try to look harder into the things before next time.

My 2c, he has written the best blog post from any mobile phone OS chief ive ever seend

  • xXx

Already gave up…. If the update wanna, then let it happen. I'm also ok if the update is not coming, coz I will start to look into to OS platform then.

  • David N Martin

I have the ultimate and perfect solution to all the problems that this is causing for the people who are whining and complaining. How about you all just return your phones, give them away, or buy something else. That way the forums will be a far more pleasant place for the rest of us who perhaps seem to have a little more of a handle on reality.
The phone is largely fine for now and I am sure that after you get nodo and use c&p once you will be rather underwhelmed
    .
And I'll make you another deal. When an update comes along that I think will make you happy, I'll send you a message to let you know. The message will be with the check that is in the mail….

  • koyce

I have the NoDo update and i am eager to copy something but have not had the scenario to do it yet.

    • Iliopoulos Dimitris

you received nodo? are you in the random number of devices that is getting it? you are very lucky, do you have any friend in Microsoft? this is the update policy of Microsoft mobile division!

  • Abs

    This is ridiculous.
I bought the phone on Nov 8, 2010. I was "promised" the following from Microsoft:
    1. I'll be getting a series of significant updates in the next few months
    2. I'll be getting copy/paste "early" 2011
    3. Microsoft learned from WM6.5 experience and promised to have much better control over the update process.
    So, 5 months later,
    1. I got zero update in 5 months (and forget about series and significant).
    2. April or May or June is NOT early 2011 (apparently "delivery" of updates take several weeks even after all testing is complete. This is in Microsoft's hands. What happens if MS sells more of these phones, how long will the "delivery of the update take?????) God!
    3. It turns out, MS does not have better control over updates. They allow carriers to block one update AND they allow carriers to take as much time as they want testing the updates. Combine this with microsoft releasing one update every 4-5 months, this means I can buy a phone and get rid of it a year later and not have a single bug fix and not a single security volunerability fixed!!

    • frank

      Return the phone and STFU

    • Physboy

Exactly. I appreciate Joe's turn around, but really, this is NOT something that should have been considered as a low priority item. The fact is that it WAS considered a low priority item, and the furor response from folks comes from being PROMISED a different experience from WM regarding updates, but yet NOT having that PROMISE fulfilled.

For those platform apologists, give it a rest. You have no right to downplay anyone's legitimate claims, unless you have evidence that the claims are false. If your happy w/ companies consistently breaking their promises to you, that is your problem, don't try and make it mine!

      1. "Next few months" from November 8. It is March 27. 5 is still defined as "a few" too most people.
      2. copy/paste in "early 2011": Some people got it in March it, others will be getting it in April. Most people actually do think of March and April as being "early" in a year.
      3. 'd say they have indeed learned and do have better control. Did you EVER get an update on WM 6.5?

Sorry, I have to disagree with your analysis.

I find very nice that Joe Belfiore makes this kind of statement.

I think the problem is not only the delay for the NoDo update. For me, the fact that there was no fix provided for the Marketplace bug is more serious.

MS shall not have waited for the NoDo update to fix the Markeplace. This kind of fixes must be provided immediately when a bug arises.

I applaud Joe for coming out and addressing the WP7 users. Yes, people want the updates, but even more than that people want to be informed. Tell the true about what is going on and people will be much more understanding.

Joe Belfiore is a class act. That is as sencere as it gets, and I'm sure this whole process is not what Microsoft had envisioned. The good thing I see about this situation is that I can't imagine "mango" going thru this. I'm confident Microsoft would have learned a few things from this process and what it's fans expect. It's not where you start but where you finish. And after it's all set and done, we're going to be sitting pretty high.

if carriers have to do testing of mango update, WP7 users that bought a phone early will never get it, if copy & paste needs 2 months of testing imagine IE9 and multitasking! Microsoft can deliver great software like WP7 but is a big company that react extremely slowly to user demand and in the consumer segments this is unacceptable!

It's a shame that hes had to respond to such an impatient bunch of angry fanboys. Reading the comments on Channel9 makes me embarrassed to be a WP7 user.

    So many apologists. Wow.

Well that's a good start. He really looks like Sly Stallone
