Leak: LG Fantasy looks a bit like the HTC HD7

Pocketnow have managed to lay their hands on LG’s fall line-up, revealing amongst a bevy of Android handsets a single Windows Phone 7 handset, the LG Fantasy.

No specs accompanied the rendering, but the device appears to have a near edge to edge screen and similar styling to the HC HD7, suggesting to me that it will likely be a premium large-screened handset.

How do our readers feel about the design compared to LG’s previous lower-end looking devices? Let us know below.

Thanks Kainy for the tip.

looks like the Touch HD aka Blackstone…

if its 9 mm thick and has a 4.3 inch its awesome…

if its typically LG…thick, plastic device with a 4 inch display its a fail…

It reminds me a lot of my Samsung Omnia 7 just not quite as square (flat) on the top and bottom of the phone.

    Much better than HTC HD7

    Pretty blah.

It looks ok to me. Minimalist design, good. 3 buttons on the bottom according to spec. Good. I don’t see ffc or proximity sensor which either makes this a pure mock up which I suspect it to be or a fail.

so where’s the ff cam i’ve been hearing about? There’s no way i’m buying a 2nd gen wp7 phone w/o a ff cam. up to this point, MS has been pretty mum about this. To hell with dual/quad core, 2gb ram or teva else they come up with. No ff on new devices, i’ll stick with my 1st gen hd7..

    “previous lower-end looking devices”

Really? Even Engadget considered the Optimus 7 the most elegant of the initial batch of WP7 phones.

Looks ok, I need specs and price

So perhaps we don’t need to care about LG now that Nokia is doing their thing, bit if this is their entire line-up it is pretty lame. Unless the Optimus 7 will stay as a sub $200 rrp device.

That edge to edge screens looks lovely!

Looks like the LG Optimus 3D – same screen size at HD7 but (marginally) larger.
    LG make great phones.

    • rsgx

Hmmm, I haven’t had a good look at the Optimus, but if it is, then I’ll be disappointed.

      Why?

More recycled Android handsets making their way to WP7.

Think of it the other way around and you’re good to go ;)

Based on some of the positive reception on this thread, had LG released this device at launch instead of the LG Quantum, then they would not have been complaining about their poor WP sales.

The Prada K2 render did not have an indication of a front facing camera but the specs state it will come with one. So there might be a chance that this one will come with one. I find it odd that out of all the new models shown, the WP7 phone had the least information about it.

But the Prada K2 specs list that it will be 8.8mm thick. Damn. I hope theyre able to make the Fantast as thin as that.

I like it. It looks better than HD7.
And its the best looking phone on that lineup posted on pocketnow.

Finally! LG managed to create a good-looking device. I think this device looks amazing, it’s very clean, simple and in line with Metro. After buying the optimus 7 for storage reasons, I was sure I wasn’t going to buy any more LGs thinking the next ones would be ugly and that storage wouldn’t be an issue anymore with other OEMs but this one might actually be good.

Capacitive buttons? LG Optimus 7 is the only WP7 device with a true hardware buttons now.

Otherwise it’s nice. Looks better than these Android models IMHO: http://pocketnow.com/smartphone-news/lgs-remaining-2011-smartphones-revealed-images

While there is no front-facing camera, rendered Android devices miss it too, only LG Victor has it. These renders may not be accurate enough.

The Prada K2 info states it will have a 1.3mp front facing camera, but it is not shown on the render. I doubt LG would be stupid enough not to put a front facing camera on the Fantasy.

hopefully, this is a 4″ and NOT bigger display. 800×480 are not enough for bigger screens imho.

    • guesttt999

It was not too long ago, when 16-17″ monitors used to have 800 x 600 resolution!!!

  • rsgx

Looks nice. As long as they have a nice clean edge and one tone back plate with no ‘bells and whistles’, it will be a solid looking handset.

  • President Baltar

I don’t like it. The Optimus7 is kinda sexy phone – even more so in the midst of the very serious Omnia and the unimaginative HTC devices. This is just a big hunk of phone.

Make a Prada-branded WP7 with seamless metal body and it will be in its own league.

  • markiz

if they keep pricing down as they did with optimus, it would be great. that phone can be had for a bag of peanuts.

Very nice and clean, just need to remove the LG logo on the front and it is beautiful!

    • Steve McHoney

yes… the LG logo is terrible. It looks so cheap.

  • David

It is a beautiful device. I have to say I didn’t expect this from LG and I am surprise to see LG is really stepping up and coming with this design.

It reminds of when HTC started few years ago with their Windows Mobile devices. They had the best look and build back then. Of course right now they are kind of boring and they make lots of crappy Adroid phones.

But this is very well design and good work from LG. If they continue to come with nice and good looking designs like this instead of what they ahd last year I am sure they will sell more and they will be more happy about their Winows Phone devices sell number.

Good to see after Nokia joined Windows Phone now other OEMs are doing much better job to compete and come with nice, fresh, and sexy design.

I have to say I didn’t expect this at all but this now makes LG phone is one of my options beside Nokia Sea Ray.

Good job LG! Hope to see more nice and cool Windows Phone devices like this from you in future.

  • Steve McHoney

    Beautiful.

The Optimus 7 was already a nice device (physical buttons, DLNA, 16gb storage instead of pathetic 8GB), but this new one looks fantastic.

  • Donkens

They should remove LG brand and put the Microsoft branding instead.

There is a typo in the second paragraph – “HC HD7″ instead of “HTC HD7″
