LG sends mixed messages at MWC ’11

While LG CEO Dr. Jong-Seok Park has reaffirmed his company’s commitment to Microsoft regardless of the new Nokia partnership, LG’s support at Mobile World Congress 2011 has been mixed, to say the least. There was little emphasis on WP7 in his speech, and their efforts with the OES seem to have been downplayed; most worryingly, according to WPCentral reporter Daniel Rubino, LG appear not to be displaying any Windows Phone 7 devices, in a display that had ample room even for feature phones.

LG have been scaling their Windows Phone commitment back and back from their initially strong support at the OS’s announcement. While their guarantee to continue with WP7 is comforting for the moment, if LG doesn’t make a better showing soon it may be joining the long line of OEMs whose plans with Microsoft have, one way or another, not panned out.
