LG to outsource new Windows Mobile devices to Compal
At Mobile World Congress LG promised to release 50 new Windows Mobile devices over the next 3 years. To help LG realize this goal they have enlisted the help of Compal, ODM to the likes of HP, Motorola, Palm and Acer, who have increased their focus on smartphones.
While its good news that LG is ramping up its Windows Mobile work, my opinion of Compal’s ODM work versus HTC for example, is not very high, with devices often having poor build quality and unattractive designs.
Hopefully LG, who makes the PRADA phone, amongst others, will be able to keep a close eye on Compal and still produce compelling devices.
