Live Mesh coming to Windows Mobile this week!

One of our readers alerted us to the news that a new Live Mesh beta is coming this week, and that this release will finally bring a Windows Mobile client.

Live Mesh provides downloadable software for PC’s and a service on the Web that provides access to all your files and various web applications from whatever device you are using. Examples would be having your photos automatically synchronized between your mobile phone, desktop and digital photo frame, and also then being able to view your photos online from any web browser wherever you are.

Live Mesh is going into open Beta over the course of this week and includes several new features that enhance the experience by giving users more control, increased reliability, and improved performance. Next year, Live Mesh will be utilized in the next major release of Windows Live.

Instructions for accessing the Windows Mobile client will be made available from the Live Mesh blog later in the week.

I used Sugar Sync for a long time but got onto Live Mesh a couple of months ago.

My office and home are about a mile apart up a very steep hill (yes, both ways). I ride my bike between the two as it seems asinine to drive unless I need to transport something of significant mass.

Anyway, the promise of Sugar Sync was that I could work on something in the office and, later in the evening, work on it from home without having to remember to sync and carry a memory stick (I’d forget my name were it not attached).

Sugar Sync delivered on the promised sync about 50% of the time. So far – in the last 2 months – Live Mesh has delivered 100% of the time. It is awesome. I look forward to the WinMob and OSX betas with great anticipation.

I hope it has the Live Mesh Remote Desktop capabilities!!

If not in this release I am sure it will have eventually. I find remote desktop increasingly less useful due to the energy costs of leaving your desktop computer running all the time (500 watts is a lot of power to use 24×7 (about £40 per month)). In that way mirroring data to their cloud is actually better, e.g. still being able to access my documents from my phone, despite my desktop being powered down.

I really can’t wait for that native Livemesh Mobile client to come out! I’ve been wanting to eliminate the need to cable my Touch Diamond to my PC in order to autosync media and documents… wireless sync anywhere is just the thing I need to wirelessly sync new shows from my HTPC to my phone!

This is going to be the KILLER APP for WinMo devices!

Actually looks like they are just now updating the service, all the links give you a status page that they are doing an upgrade.
