Mango introduces new Keyboard bug

The Windows Phone 7 keyboard is one of the best qualities of the OS, but it seems Mango, for all its improvements, have introduced a new issues with the feature.

On XDA-Developers a number of users are complaining of either the keyboard not popping up when the user touches an input field, and even worse, disappearing in the middle of typing a sentence.

Some users are also complaining their touches are not registering as accurately as before. The issue is not confined to devices with the hacked Mango update, but also appears in devices which received the official update.

I had originally dismissed this as my imagination playing up. Omnia 7 here.

Definitely seeing improper/delayed touch registering. A few times the character pressed pops up as normal but no text appears in the input field.

I have had this problem with my Samsung Focus (with the official update) more that a few times, but it is completely random and not often.

Consistantly happened during the Mango beta and with the final release of Mango, on the HD7 and Focus.

The keyboard has vanished from me a few times. And I feel that it’s not as accurate as it was when I was using NoDo. MS needs a bug fix update before the end of the year.

This happened when I was using Whatsapp. The SIP just disappeared and I have to exit Whatsapp in order to get the SIP back again.

I’ve definitely had this problem since official Mango update. (HTC Trophy) Usually happens when posting comments online.

Perfectly fine when typing English characters, using LG E900.

But when writing Chinese characters using hand-writing feature *in 3rd party apps like WhatsApp*, the phone reboot randomly. Such problem didn’t occur when I write Chinese characters in built-in apps like People hub/ Office hub. I have checked with other LG E900 users in Hong Kong, I am quite sure it is LG’s problem. I am not sure when will LG fix this problem (if they will).

Overall Mango feels a little buggy compared to dev.Beta release. i’ve even had a couple times that phone didnt responded at all. Keyboard issue is clearly noticable with Whatsapp

Never happened on Mango beta, but from when I upgraded to the official version the keybord have become jerky and non-responsive (in the reative way of a WP7!!), i had to shut down the clicking sound because it slowed all and I had the disappearing issue too!

I’m in the UK using a HD7 on o2 and this has started happening to me since the Mango update! Glad i’m not the only one! Very frustrating! Trying to text and then randomly the keyboard hides itself! GRRRR Also getting the Zune freeze issue after 4 songs! Only way around it is having the phone plugged into a power source!

I have a Samsung Focus, and I’ve definitely experienced this. Not often, but its occurred on an occasional basis. Definitely unique to Mango, because during Nodo days it never happened.

sometimes in Whatsapp. but I think it’s probably whatsapps’s bug. for the rest it’s okej =) It’s even better now I got the dutch dictionary and asian keyboards! =)

I do have a different bug though. my HD7 won’t show my album art while on lockscreen =(

“Vanishing keyboard” -problem here too, with the LG Optimus 7. Happens in every app and I have to touch the textbox to get the keyboard back up. Both of my phones (both are the same model) have this problem.

Didn’t have this issue with the beta dev Mango.
