Microsoft: copy and paste evolved.

Microsoft’s new Pink initiative with Verizon showed some interesting things today that could possibly make their way to the upcoming Windows Phone 7 platform, namely copy and paste…..which now seems to be….drag and drop?

Check out this facebook video Microsoft posted, it’s shown at about 30 seconds in:

If this is really the tech Microsoft is looking to bring to the mobile space where users can drag any content/element from any screen and drop it in another screen/application would be awesome, can I use the word revolutionary? I don’t even know what to think, all I can say is this tech is cool. I would love for it be in Windows Phone 7.

What do you guys think?

OK, I love, one is the best, and is certain this should work in wm7

This is so obvious but would make such a massive difference. I first saw it on the courier and i want it on my phone and desktop now.

This is one feature that would be welcome on Windows Phone 7, simple but effective.

  • Shawn

WP7 has a feature like that, its called smart sensing, just saw the video over at the official windowsphone7 forums.

its in the exclusives section, its called smart sensing vs copy and paste.

They did say that features from both will find their way on each other, in time. The thing is that the update cycles for Kin and WP7 aren't in sync, so something will show up in one of the two first and then probably make it's way to the other later.

This is more like Drag & Drop rather than Copy and Paste?????

What about I wanna copy some text from my emails and send them as SMS text? Can it be done? How smart can it be if such simply tasks cannot even be archived?

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Lennard Lennard

I was thinking that they could do it in such a way that you select the txt you want and then drag it to where you want to

  • syannis

exactly.. that's the main use for copy and paste… copying text.. the other one is simply drag an' drop..

This would be a really cool copy/paste-feature. Just drop text, images etc. onto the bottom and then when you want to paste something you hold your finger for a few seconds and a popup comes up with the clipboard where you could choose what to paste. Neat.

Microsoft still needs a copy & paste solution to go along with their smart sensing tech. That would plug all wholes in that area and actually give them a leg up on everyone else.

For it's part Microsoft has some terrific ideas and technology right now. Now only if they can find an marketing agency that can promote the features and brand as well as Apple's marketing agency does.

yeah, they're going to update the OS after they finish up their version of copy and paste…it could be that you select the text you want and then drag it to where you want…
