Microsoft Releases Kinectimals Game For iOS Devices

Today Microsoft released another iOS app (actually game) in App Store. Its Kinectimals game, which we thought as a Windows Phone exclusive so far.

Game Description:

This irresistible mobile experience gives you the chance to use your phone to visit the island of Lemuria and play with, care for and fall in love with your very own cub. Bring your pet with you wherever you go! If you’ve already experienced Kinectimals on Kinect for Xbox 360, your phone becomes the key to unlocking five new cubs on your console. If by any chance you or your friends & family own an iOS device, you can download the Kinectimals from App Store here. btw, the game costs $2.99.

Whats going on with Microsoft?? we need all the help we can get to make WP7 a great success!, but helping other platforms with our exclusive, “people-grabber” apps!? We need to stop this.

Sorry, but you’re wrong. These apps they are releasing on competing platforms are not ruining Microsoft’s chance of succeeding, but instead making consumers aware of for example this game. I’m sorry, but kinectimals is not the reaason for buying a Windows Phone. Integrated Skype might be, special hardware from Nokia will be.

Why would they do that???? Especially including the special Xbox feature. If they’re going to make the same game for a competing platform, they should at least make it worse. I really don’t get it. They’ve given iOS the Xbox hub, although without integration, and now are giving them this. Next thing you know they’ll be building the Xbox Companion app for iOS.

Isn’t porting Xbox games to iOS pretty much knocking over the last pillar of WP7? Sure they can’t get achievements (or can they?) but really, it’s the principle. An Xbox app the same time we get ours, MS Office is going there, constant updates to Bing and now XBL games. What’s left? Meanwhile we can’t get a straight answer on something as simple as Pandora.

1. You still need WP7 to get the full xbox experience.
2. MS needs Xbox and Office strong and everywhere. It will strengthen the MS brand and ecosystem, help the WP7 in the long run as well.

OMG, im going to get banned from commenting on this site soon. For the love of everything THIS INCREASES BRAND EXPOSURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! enough of this MS is going to close crap down talk. Xbox, Xbox Live and Kinect all have the highest penetration rates, so, “pimp” them out, get more positive feedback for the brand then enhance the brand experience on the phone (and other hardward/services).

The hell is with you short sighted people? If you’re having a hard time getting the handsets in people’s hands, then go to where they are and make yourself known. That’s what they did with the iOS and Android WP7 emulator, that’s what their doing with OneNote on the iPad, that’s what their doing with an Xbox Live app on iOS and that’s what their doing here.

MS is a software company first people. As long as they keep the WP version more integrated with additional functionality, it’s the best of both worlds. They aren’t going to have 90% market share on the mobile phone ever so they want their software and services used by as many people as possible while enticing people to be on their platforms with better integration and experience. Brand awareness and exposure to the Metro UI, with a big push of the ecosystem as a whole later in 2012 when Win 8 is near is the goal.

Brand exposure worked iTunes on the PC now tons of people flocked from PC to MAC. All I have to say is if you say its exclusive make it exclusive I hope the Companion App doesn’t get ported over. The last thing I want is a Apple user showing off that he/she can control their Xbox using an iPhone and saying hey can your Windows Phone do that? ugh
