Microsoft rolling out Disappearing Keyboard Fix!!!

OK, we are a bit excited, but the most common complaint we are hearing these days is “Windows Phone 7 is great, but the disappearing keyboard is driving me mad!”.

Plaffo.com reports that their Vodafone-branded LG Optimus 7 just received OS 7.10.8107.79. The for once useful changelog reports fixes to the keyboard bug and also:

It solves a problem of the keyboard on the screen, preventing the keyboard to disappear while typing
Resolves an issue with syncing Gmail
It solves a problem of access to the location. After the upgrade, the function IO hub sends to Microsoft anonymous information contact the Wi-Fi access points and antennas for mobile phones in the vicinity, only if you have allowed access to and use of location information from part of the "I’m here."
Revocation of certificates issued by DigiCert Sdn Bhd to solve a problem of encryption
Fixes a problem with the e-mail related to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. When you reply to or forward an email, the original message is now included in the response.
Fixes an issue of notification of voicemail

finally! Also HTC needs to fix that wifi issue on the Radar 4G where when the phone goes to sleep the wifi refuses to work unless i toggle it on or off -__-

I agree, the last two fixes in the dot points above have already been released under the 7740 update so it gets more confusing with fragmented updates under different O/S version numbers :~/

considering I have been telling them that the keyboard disappears months ago…I’m kinda mad but better late than never I guess…

my keyboard is absolutely driving me nuts and its happening a few times a day. Its the worst when you have to leave the site or app and re-enter it for it to work again, making whatever you wrote untill then go to waste.

What’s to be mad about? Mango introduced the bug, and Mango was released on Sep 27. That is basically just about 10 weeks for MS to be notified of the problem, find the cause, thoroughly test the fix and release it. Seems a bloody good response, if you ask me.

you are right. But this bug existed for months, the dev preview had the same bug as well…when you consider that this bug is known since july, its not as fast.

Anyway, not going to argue too much, good thing it might be an issue of the past now.

Not listed in the above fixes and also will be a HTC firmware update anyway.

So much looking forward to this fix (update). Over the past weeks I’ve had to disable all background tasks and thus all Live Tile updates in order to ‘keep’ my keyboard. I just checked and the update is not yet out here in Denmark via the Zune software (HTC Radar).
