More Windows Phone 7 gaming titbits

Xbox Live integration on Windows phone 7, courtesy of games.ch.

Some more videos shot at GamesCon, where Microsoft unveiled their Windows Phone 7 Xbox Live line-up has percolated onto the internet, adding some more interesting info.

Of note regarding Xbox Live integration is that users will be able to message their friends on consoles directly, a feature which I think automatically makes the device a compelling must-have for the hardcore Xbox Live user.

While the platform currently lacks direct multi-play action (and there are plenty of hints that this will be coming in the future) turn by turn gaming is actually also very compelling, due to its asynchronous nature, meaning you can play against some-one without interrupting their work flow.

The second video below shows off come games, and again reveals that IloMilo is in fact a first-party title from Microsoft Games Studios, and that they worked directly with SouthEnd Games to bring the software to the platform.  If the game, which is clearly a high-quality and appealing title, is any indication of what we can expect from Microsoft’s first party titles we can probably look forward to some amazing games in the future.

See the games demo after the break.

Is it just me or does everything that has to do with xbox one of three colors? Green, White, and Silver? I mean, really? Could they have chosen wierder color schemes for their products? Magenta/Pink and orange: Zune, Green, silver, white: Xbox, and Off White and black: Kin. IDK about you, but if i were msft i'd try and keep everything tied a little closer to the windows colors of Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow.

I think they should move in the opposite direction, including changing the name of Windows Phone 7 to be the 'working title' and give it a better name. Its too much of a mouthful to say and doesnt roll off the tongue.

Because Windows MOBILE 7 rolles off the tongue way better right? Give me a break already, the name is fine. When the average person asks what phone you have you'll say a HTC whatever, or a LG whatever. Few people give a crap about what OS is on these things, and even if they do ask (the few that do) you can just say windows if you don't want to say the whole name. In the end it's the same core anyways, even if the UI doesn't match with the desktop version.

Would it be possible if we could have a story without the first comment be some priss whining over something like colors, names, shapes, ect.?

I really want to see some of the other games. I know they are being shown to the public, but all the videos I have seen are of people playing either ilomilo or Rocket Riot. I want to see de Blob or The Harvest.

Well, some will always have something to whine about if its not coming from Apple which is some crap anyway. As far as games go, I would love to see halo: Waypoint demoed, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon, ti would better be kept close to when the phone is released to generate more excitement plus you don't want people copying that IP and come up with something similar. It is good that they provide the option for developers to just code the controls onto the screen or tie their controls to actual physical keypad buttons if you prefer . Its looking good, all others need to watch out because MS creates ecosystems but others create random standalone products like the iPhone, Android, and Backberry. They are all doomed starting holiday 2010, MS just needs to pump out captivating TV ads that easily showcases to the public what WP7 offers.

a small typo in the headline i believe.. its supposed to be 'tidbit' :)

As an XBOX user I have to say this whole XBOX Live integration with the Phone OS is pretty damn slick. Like, Apple type slick. Yeah I compared it to Apple so what. Take it as a compliment. The whole Open Feint crap that Apple is trying to push is a joke compared to this type of integration.

Once the hardware on these phones gets a real boost, like PSP or DS type gaming hardware, then we are going to have a real seamless portable integration going on. Don't forget this is in it's infancy. Kudos to M$ for doing this right. Now the rest of the Phone OS is TBD. It looks good enough but we need some serious Application support. Now the old Windows Mobile did have a large amount of dev support so I'm guessing with the footprint Windows already has in the world this shouldn't be a problem. I'm thinking WP7 could seriously makes some waves next to Apple and Android. RIM is done IMHO. BB version 6 or whatever it's called doesn't stack up at all to the latest mobile OS'. IMHO.
