MWC 10: HTC HD mini handson video

Here we have a 7 minute fondle of the new HTC HD2 mini. The device is obviously well designed, and we can see pinch to zoom both in Opera and IE (which seems to be the default browser). The browser itself appears surprisingly responsive for a 600 Mhz processor, suggesting Microsoft has continued working on speeding up IE Mobile.

Also of note is that the version of TouchFlo is 2.5, and not the earlier 2.1 designed for slower processors.

Lastly, looking at the text on the screen, I feel the lower Half VGA resolution is quite noticeable. What do our readers think? Let us know below.

Haven't been a big fan of 6.5.3 so far but looks like pretty nice here.

Would be great if the next HD2 ROM update was 6.5.3, now that I guess it's been officially announced.

Why don't we see any new handset with a pixel density similar to that of the HTC Diamond 1 and 2? The HTC Diamond have 640 x 480 on 2.8" screen.

I love the crisp image on my Diamond, but I could go with a little bit bigger screen (not HD2 size) and updated OS, but not if I have to go down in resolution… no way.

This HD2 mini should have had higher resolution screen, imo.

one of the reasons this HD mini is fast is the lower resolution. I think these previous generation (ARM11) chips (MSM7200,7227) are really not enough for WVGA. They just choke a lot here and there.

I see at many places it's even faster than the HD2! If it's the ROM, I want that ROM!

Screen resolution is brutal and a killer. As others said VGA resolution would have been smarter (allowing it to be shorter/smaller than the HD2/Imagio/TP2 devices with 800×480 resolution. Like a Diamond 2010 version.

HTC seems to be lacking in direction with a bunch of mediocre stuff coming way too late to major markets (USA), often for the wrong carriers and with inadequate features.

While a nice form factor (small for a female) it's crummy resolution is a significant downer. Why omit CDMA and cut off two major carriers in the USA with actual interest in WM devices! Bone-headed decision.
