My Love For Windows Phone 7 Is Back!

After watching over 3 hours of Windows Phone 7 demos from many different sites, it seems I am back in the Windows Phone 7 love clan. I have been using Android and WebOS the past 5 months and have teased the good looking but still function full life of the new guys. So much that I lost all hope on being a happy Windows Phone users. Well after these last videos I have watched most recently the one above, it seems Windows Phone 7 is for sure going to be in my future and will stay there until WP8 comes out in 5-10 years (usual time frame).

Now the video we have been seeing are of the undone, but pretty close to completion OS. Even with unfinished software, the OS is still “running as smooth as butter”, now just imagine when it is lunched with devices that are well prepared for it. That sounds to me like a reason to go to Best Buy rather than a date with a model.

What I have been looking for (list below) is all part of Windows Phone 7, and Microsoft even managed to make what I want in a better way and even add more into that.

Wants:

  1. Looks
  2. Functionality
  3. Games
  4. Music Player that doesn’t suck
  5. Stability
  6. Facebook
  7. Sync Software
  8. Frequent Updates Like Android, that improves the devices even more.

And those things are all seen in the above video, and gush darn it I am so happy I could go riding my bike again. I am happy I saw this last video before bidding on the Samsung Vibrant I was 5 min away from winning, but it showed me that if I am a little patient, I will get all I want and more. The only thing that could stop it is if HTC does release that ugly thing that was previously leaked rather than something we can all enjoy and cherish.

What do you look for when you think of a perfect phone? How do you like my extreme unbiased (I am a little towards the iPhone though, but I used the 4 and it is awesome… but that grip thing annoyed me a lot). Comment below and tell us your thoughts.

i love it, the way he moves aroung without any lag is beautiful. i dont mind having all of those features as long as it performs each and every time, im big on performance. all dats left for me to see what htc has instore for this wonderful os.

  • doministry

    Looks great. But has limitations.
    We'll see.

    • Gully

      What limitations?

  • okkkk

Great video. Thank you. For the first time I'm IMPRESSED with a cellphone performance.
Recently we have very good phones from HTC, Androids, even iPhones, but no one made me say AAHA!!
With WM7 finally I feel I'm in the 21st century. Everything else I don't care: Evos, Droids, iPhones they function with a paradigm like if they are still living in the 20th century.

I'm impressed too. The only feature I also need is a good navigation app. I'm currently on my Windows Mobile device a frequent user of the TomTom software. Will TomTom be available on Windows Phone 7 and because their is no multi-tasking, can I in the mean time still receive phone calls?

  • Durishin

OK! Perhaps I am beginning to be interested, regardless my comments about no PI for WP7. This video is impressive!

I'm not that impressed. It's like Microsoft just waited end of 2010 to reach what Apple has been able to achieve since 2007. During 3 years, in France, we reached 70% of mobile internet use with Apple devices. Android is 10% and growing fast. Winmo7 will be difficult to beat the quality of iPhone in people minds.
I don't see any improvement in this overview that could made me want to drop my iPhone 4 and get a Windows Phone.

ROTF you sound like a jealous, jilted ex-girlfriend.

Let not forget about Android v3 coming before the year is over. Also on the linux side is Meego. I will wait until December to see ALL three OS being reviewed before making my final decision. I just think MS lost the game already. They waited way too long and long time customers like me have given up on them.

    • http://www.mobilitydigest.com Murani

Well for every longtime customer that has given up on them there is a couple new potential customers that could be won over.

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/chinch chinch

Lost a game that is in the opening minutes? ROTFLMAO

"Lets not forget about…" the Android APP STORE SECURITY problems. 1.5 to 4 million more users breached. Once a non-apple alternate exists those android users will bail. NOTHING keeps you from leaving android to iPhone or WP7.

Version 1 of WP7 with lots of functions that will not be available @ launch. MS better make sure that they can catch up fast its competitors, especially Android and its lightning speed of OS development.

    • http://www.mobilitydigest.com Murani

For the most part Android hasn't done any groundbreaking development. A huge draw to Android is the tie-in with Google services. Who has more cloud, personal and social servies than anyone? Microsoft. The key will definitely end up being Microsoft's marketing of the product and indeed the speed at which they fill in the gaps with the missing functionality.

Of note is also the priority they give each functionality. I'm quite sure we'd all appreciate them addressing the copy/paste and file synching to computer, etc before they get to things we only use once every month.

Quote from Wen: "WP8 comes out in 5-10 years (usual time frame)."

Yes, 5 – 10 years is the usual time it takes Microsoft to release a new OS. This may be how long it takes to get the many shortcomings fixed in Windows Phone 7 (C&P and multitasking are just the beginning of the long list of things that need to be fixed)

Maybe I should give Microsoft a financial incentive to fix those issues, by delaying my purchase of a WP7 handset until those features are fixed.

GUI is orribly retro. More WEB-pages-like than a modern and pleasant smartphone GUI…

This looks AWESOME, can't wait to get one. Like to see how quickly MS get updates out, I can see this expanding quickly after launch. =D

well well well It didnt take 5 to 10 years did it lol? Maybe ur financial incentive worked
