New Forced NoDo hack as easy as pie

Via WPCentral we have just learned of an extremely easy way to get NoDo faster in many regions where it is being delivered already.

In essence only the following steps are necessary:

Start Zune
Turn off Data connection and Wifi on the Phone
Connect the Phone with the PC (USB)
Start the update search in Zune
About 3 seconds later, disconnect your PC from the internet (Turn WLAN off).
Zune finds NoDo-Update. Press OK.
Connect to the internet again and install the update.

Vodafone UK – took some trying (timing the WiFi cancel) but perseverence was rewarded. Dodgy PC locked up backing up by phone, so dug out new Win7 tablet from work and used that…bingo!

me too.. Tried it over and over, read threads, tried remedies over and over, waisted about 60 minutes on it.. Im going to just wait, I wasnt frustrated before.. but Now I am.. Going to just wait -Att Samsung Focus.

I got it to work for my Samsung Focus on AT&T. I got 7008 on my phone by unlocking, then applying the Samsung registry hack to unbrand using 000-88 and the update showed up. I had to make sure all my media was backed up, then erased all the content using Zune and uninstalled apps until I had over 5 GB free.

Then I used this method mentioned above: turned off cellular and WIFI, checked for update using Zune, unplugged my wireless access point in about 1 second, waited a couple minutes and BAM!, the update for NODO was there! Easy as can be.

It works for the Samsung Focus on AT&T.

I have a AT&T Samsung Focus and after Debranding it I got both updates using this method and had no problems… Phones is definately quicker and the battery life seems to have gotten better.. Oh yea copy and paste is sweet

Have tried this numerous times (tried with turning off wifi by button on PC as well as right clicking connection and disconnecting) but I either get the 'your phone is up to date' or I get the error message that zune cant connect to the update services.
Have tried changing the time I wait before disconnecting but still no joy.
Will try again tomorrow but looks like I may have to wait a while longer – Bugger!!

Omnia 7 on UK T Mobile (standard). 7004 (ie no pre NODO if that makes a difference)

After 70+ tries following the magnatude of guidance and threads to "Nodo" my Samsung Focus (on ATT).. I am happy to report that not only could I not get it to update, but its now sitting at the bottom of my neighbors pool. Im sure it will update when lighting strikes it. (Seriously though, I am just going to cross my fingers that "early april" means 2 weeks and just wait)

Ive got a Telstra Mozart (no pre-nodo update yet) and unfortunately this doesn't seem to work. I tried many times, interrupting wifi and Ethernet individually. Anyone else on Telstra had any luck?

Worked on my T-mobile USA HD7 -Central Florida took about 3 tries just left both the network connection window open next to the zune window click update then 1-2 sec (cable modem) disabled network adapter every thing was smooth but i did have to restart my phone…for some reason i wasn't able to get on to the marketplace but its all good now 100% !!!! WHERE YOU AT MANGO lolol ; )

I thought this was an April Fools joke, no harm in trying it though. I disabled networking 3 seconds into it, and now as I type this I'm installing the NoDo update. yeah!

I did this procedure, took me a bunch of times, but I finally got the timing right. NoDo was aGoGo. Very fast, good job on the updates, it did take a while to get the rollout but hey I think it should for the most part be smooth sailing for future updates. I really liked my phone before, now I like it just that much more. Good job Microsoft.

I am blown away. I never expected this to work. I connected today, Saturday morning and decided to give it a try if I still was not getting the update from Tmobile. I am on a PC so I just clicked the connect button on the router to break the internet connection. The message about having an update appeared. I restarted the router and waited for a connection and then started the update. It is updating as I am writing this message. It also said it has copy/paste so I know this is it. Thank you for these instructions.

Works with telus as well, you need to fidle with the timing though got it on my 10th try, maybe zune software has a bug and is not pushing updates properly and this trigers it.
