New Verizon Windows Mobile world phone revealed

Talking about leaks by certification bodies, the GCF (the Global Certification Forum) has just approved the HTC XV6975, an unknown world phone from Verizon. The certification reveals more than the usual quadband GSM but also singleband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA on the European 2100 MHz band.

No further information is available, but a small clue may be that the XV6950 was the Verizon HTC Touch Diamond.

I recently read that the Sprint Touch Pro2 would be the PPC 6975, so the XV6975 could very well be Verizon’s own TP2…

Couldn’t give up there, so how about a little mathematical guesstimate???

The HTC Ozone received the same certification 109 days prior to release. Therefore, the Verizon Touch Pro2 should launch on November 3rd, 2009 based on the same math.

Actually makes perfect sense considering the XV6800 and Touch Pro1 both launched in November on Verizon, and FCC confidentiality for the CDMA Touch Pro2 expires 10/31/2009.

Here’s to hoping sooner, but I always knew sooner than November would be wishful thinking.

I’m disappointed that wmpoweruser.com didn’t catch that obvious bit AND had an error. The Diamond was NOT the 6850 the 6950 (The Pro was the 6850) and we already know that the CDMA TP2 is the 6975, so no big surprise there. We know exactly what phone that is.

Unambiguously positive regardless of which device. World phone makes sense. Should be an interesting fall with new touch models from htc lg & samsung. hope that was correct on the 3.5 jack. They should try to release both models together asap. another good sign is that Verizon has started to drop the online price for the current versions.

another thing is…i can see these phones being some what on the inexpensive side…
i believe the carriers are seeing that people WILL leave them for a device.
so if they have multiple NICE devices they see that as a way to keep customers. therefore ALL of them cannot be expensive.
