Nokia hints at higher-end Lumia handset, confirms Windows 8 tablets by June 2012

The head of Nokia France it seems has loose lips.

Talking to French LesEchos newspaper he spoke of Nokia’s plan to boost their market share of the French market from their current 16% back to 22% (close to the 25% they had 2 years ago).

He also described the Nokia Lumia 800 as a BWM 5 series, noting:"It’s just the equivalent of the BMW 5 Series. We will soon have a full range with a Series 7 and Series 3. "

The 3 series is presumably the Nokia Lumia 710, leaving the higher end device as the mystery, possibly the much leaked Nokia 900.

He also confirmed to LesEchos that in June 2012, Nokia will have a tablet running Windows 8 . This of course also gives a potential ship date for Windows 8, which is widely expected to appear only in fall 2012.

The Nokia 900 (Ace) is a rumoured and probably not real Windows Phone with a 4.3” ClearBlack AMOLED screen, HSPA+ data speeds, and a 1.4 GHz single-core processor. It is rumoured to have an 8-megapixel rear camera and 16 GB or 32 GB of storage. Front-facing camera and gyro sensor is currently unknown. It is rumoured to be released Q1 2012 on AT&T. Other country release dates are currently unknown. Full specs…
