Windows Phone and Nokia both desperately needs smartphone volume, and both are relying on a new wave of cheap handsets to achieve this.
One of these devices is the Nokia Lumia 520, with its 4 inch WVGA screen, 1 Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 5 megapixel camera and 8 GB expandable storage.
The handset has been posted as coming soon on Nokia’s Indian online store, and enquiries from Nokia Care suggests the handset should reach the market in the next two weeks.
The pricing of the handset has not been announced yet, but is expected to reach below 10,000 INR ($185) where it will offer a larger screen, better camera and smoother operation than the other smartphones which typically occupy this price point.
Hopefully the handset will catch on and provide Nokia with the extra millions of Lumia sales it needs to make up for finally stopping all Symbian sales.
