Nokia Lumia 800 outselling all Android phones on Vodafone UK, KPN Netherlands online stores

We posted earlier about the Nokia Lumia 800 having the best sales on Phonehouse.Fr, the CarphoneWarehouse’s European arm in France.

kpnsales Now, thanks to JamesSB, we now also know that the handset is doing great at Vodafone UK’s online store, second only to the black iPhone 4S.

In fact even the pre-orders for the Cyan version of the handset is selling better than the Blackberry Bold 9900 (very popular in UK), White iPhone 4S, HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S II.

On KPN in the Netherlands there is a similar picture, with the Lumia 800 only behind the iPhone 4S in sales .

With the iPhone 4S (click here for the best iPhone 4S deals) still in its honeymoon period,and the Nokia Lumia 800 clearly competing with it, it is pretty clear the Lumia 800 had a pretty good launch.

Makes one wonder even more where Pacific Crest got their numbers…

Might just be me, but couldn’t the listing be based on number of hits that each phone got?

Well, the KPN one says “Best Selling”, so no. And for Vodafone, if hits and sales are correlated, it does not really matter.

The figures are based on a model/color/service agreement package. Not on volume of sales of hardware. The rankings quoted here don’t mean that the Lumia is the best selling handset. For Phonehouse.fr it means that the black model with, for example 250 mins and 500 texts and 250 MB data is, or was at one time, the best selling package. If you look at the figures for all colors, models, service agreements you will see how each of those packages is ranked compared to each other one.

There is no information as to sales volume by handset _at_all_.

The KPN figures seem to indicate that they only sell the black Lumia.

The Vodaphone web site no longer offers a view based on “best selling” whether by package, color, model or features.

This is amazing news!!! I think Nokia has really managed to get people to perceive the Lumia 800 as the direct iPhone competitor with their huge marketing push. I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for Apollo!

as to where they got their numbers – probably where most analysts do – they make them up to fit whatever their clients want – So if someone wants to see Nokia fail, and short the stock, well then find an analyst will to say things look bad.

There are no numbers. Just that Lumia 800 is second popular phone to be VIEWED on Vodafone webpage. Not second to bought or sold. Just viewed.

If Nokia would have sold all out, it would already told it it officially. Now we only hear it from some MS and Nokia middle level chiefs in blogs how phone has sold out on all stores. And then lots of replies people saying there are lots in shelfs.

Nothing can be trusted until Nokia actually brings numbers. And even then…

This is complete rubbish. “Most Popular” IS based on hits, if you click on “Top 10 Selling phones” then the MS phones are no where to be seen.

Just to add to my previous comment. This article is basing it’s results off a single website hit that looks to be faulty and then making fun of a report that is compiled correctly. Total trash “journalism”

Both websites show the Lumia 800 to be popular and selling well. The analyst ‘prediction’ (key word) is based on what?

The thing that you have to note is that Analysts have their own agenda. They predict good things for Nokia before release and then after release, before any numbers have been released, they slash their predictions. Do you not find that strange? Sounds to me like try to influence stock movement to me – not unheard of. Nokia stock dropped after this so they likely achieved their goal.

How can you call this trash journalism?? There is no evidence of the reasons behind the analyst predictions and a pro WP7 site is highlighting evidence to the contrary. What is wrong with that?

Oh the cynicsm , could it possibly be that Nokia is selling very well and been recieved very well by the market , and that people are seeing beyond the hype for Android and iOS and are looking at phones with a great OS , great voice quality, battery life , and great fucntionality and design rather than generics black slabs that dont even make voice calls properly , They are MOBILE phones after all.

actually, i went to a phones 4u store and they said to me (whilst i was looking at the 4s) that the nokia that i saw before the 4s was outselling everything they had. in other words, this blog may be more truthful than first thought. and you know what, i’ve decided that im going to increase that lead by one more sale…
