Nokia Lumia 800 sales “FAR above sales forecasts”

Peter Wissinger, director for Microsoft’s Mobile Business Group in the Nordic countries have posted on Facebook yesterday what he called a Nokia Lumia (sales) report.

He notes that now that the Nokia Lumia 800 has become available in all Nordic countries sales have been far above expectations and fore-casts, and made a particular note that sales in Finland were TOTALLY “unlikely” (presumably unbelievable).

Reports from Finland so far has been of long queues and shops selling out of the handset, which suggests user acceptable of Nokia’s move from Symbian to Windows Phone 7 may be much higher than expected.

Yeah that would be nice, but does not really serve any good purpose for Nokia to release that info. Apple is about the only one that you can get decent numbers for since they only sell basically one phone.

Looking at the plans for Win Phone 8 and the ability for Nokia (as well as other OEMs who are willing to step up to the plate) to build phones to great new specs, there is a lot of potential for success now. I have a Lumia 800 coming soon and can hardly wait to get it.

I live in Stockholm and the cyan Lumias are flying off the shelves here. Wherever I go they tell me “sorry, we got a shipment yesterday and they’re all gone now”. No numbers though…
