Nokia Lumia 910 for Europe to come in May with improved 12 megapixel camera?

Eldar Murtazin likes to tweet random stuff that’s obviously untrue, but he does get some things right (he predicted the Nokia-Microsoft partnership in the first place, for example). The latest rumor to come from him is about an as-of-yet unknown device: the Nokia Lumia 910. According to his tweet, it will be a European version of the US-only Lumia 900. The name change not only reflects the different radio, obviously, as the 900 is an LTE device designed for AT&T’s network, but also indicates an improved 12 megapixel camera, compared to the 8 megapixels found on the 900. While the Lumia 900 is said to launch on March 18, the Lumia 910 would follow some two months later, in May.

While this doesn’t seem too unlikely – HTC has released a Titan II with a whopping 16 megapixel camera as the US-variant of the Titan, so it’d definitely be nice to see Nokia doing the opposite by releasing an improved version of its flagship Windows Phone in Europe – various retailers outside of the US have already listed (and subsequently pulled) the Lumia 900 (Carphone Warhouse in the UK, Sgbest in Singapore).

What’s more, other US carrier will reportedly be able to negotiate to get their own version of the Lumia 900 once Nokia’s 45-day exclusivity period with AT&T runs out. That version is also said to have a 12 megapixel camera, which further suggests that an international version would simply be called Lumia 900 as well.

Whatever the outcome, with all these reports it seems increasingly unlikely that a 4.3″ Windows Phone from Nokia will remain US-only. Which is a good thing, we gotta say.

Thing of beauty is joy forever and should be region specific? Never! Its time for Microsoft and Nokia to start launching their products everywhere without long wait times.

Agreed. Is it a Windows Phone limitation that is preventing them from using the pentaband radios that have used in the past? Maybe it’s not supported by Snapdragon.

Do I really REALLY have to dig up the blog posting where he backtracked on his “prediction of MS/Nokia Alliance” mere day before Feb 11? That man isn’t reliable as long as he gets dough and devices from his Korean buddies.

I wish “Eldar Murtazin” would just shut up.

He never will shut up.  It is the job of tech blogs like this and Engadget to STOP reporting every stupid thing he said.  Half the tech world was predicting the Nokia/MS alliance so I don’t give a crap if he was right about that.  According to KeiZka he apparently backed tracked anyways.  So even if he is right about the Lumia 910, I don’t care, he has been wrong so many times that his credibility is worthless and I cannot understand why tech sites still quote him.  At least the articles usually include a tidbit about his horrible success rate with predictions.

If the only difference is the 12 megapixle camera then I don’t see too much of a reason to get angry about it.  Lumia 900 looks awesome.  There will always be something better in the future.

        Indeed!

why would you be unhappy or pissed because you want a 12 mp camera in a cell phone as opposed to an 8mp camera.  If you want the big mp camera go with the titan II  in europe or NA with a 16mp  sheesh.

I would love to see a Nokia Lumia 810 with a front facing camera here in Europe! That would be my next phone.
