Nokia Lumia Tablet concept looks pretty cool

nokia-coffee-tab

There is something to be said for having a consistent design language, and this concept Windows 8 Nokia tablet certainly takes its cues very well from the much lauded Nokia Lumia 800 design.

The concept, created by a MyNokiablog reader, has the following specs:

  • Lumia “coffee” tab
  • 1.4GHz cpu
  • 512Mb ram
  • 16/32/64Gb storage
  • 9.7? AMOLED “clearblack” display (1280×800)
  • 8Mp Rear camera, 2Mp front facing camera
  • Windows 8 tablet edition
  • Wifi/3G connectivity

Looks pretty great, and who knows, with Nokia strongly believed to be working on a Windows 8 tablet, it may even become reality.

512Mb ram? Oh come on guys, if you do concepts put in at least 1GB for a tablet. Jeez…

      • Anonymous

Notably, the Windows 8 minimum requirements require at least one gigabyte of ram.

Yeah, and if you’re designing a concept and state a 16:10 aspect ratio, you shouldn’t model the device based on a 4:3 aspect ratio.  Similarly, you should know that the minimum resolution for the platform is 1366×768.  :)

Sweet too bad windows 8 tablet wont make it , it will priced in the same range as windows slate 7 , which is out of reach by anyone , it will cost more than ipads , I have an Acer Iconia a500 , bought it 300 , it does it all plus I have used 5 different roms and its rooted , you wont get that with winodws 8 it will tighter than the ipad , sorry but it wont make it!

Specs look reasonable, a dual core cpu would be nice but 512mb ram is more than enough for a tablet, just look at the ipad and ipad 2 they have 256 and 512 mb ram respectivly and theyre still top of the pile when it comes to tablet computers.

Bump up the resolution and the CPU and I’ll take 2

    • Anonymous

Nope, at least dual core no deal… this is a tablet not a phone

I’d say a phone is ok with single core but a tablet not so much.  With iPad 3 “rumored” to have quad core, anything less than dual is not acceptable.  With Win8 they’ll need to be out of the gate with duals and quads.  I suspect that would be the case anyway.  Single would work I guess but tablets need a little more oomph anyway.

IT does look cool.  It would look better running Mango/Apollo/Tango though,

      That Thing won’t work!
1280×800? Never. Thats more like 1280×1024 on that display.
It’s almost square and nothing like 16:9 or anything close to that. More like 4:3 which would definitly suck.

Love the Lumia-Design (of course) and agree (of course) with the rest that the specs are way to weak for a tablet, which is definitly more like a computer, than a (smart)phone.

Looks good from a design standpoint, which isnt hard because its just a big Lumia, but the placement of the buttons ( which are completely unnecessary) clearly wasnt thought out very well. you would hit every single one of those anytime you try to type or even just hold the device. Get rid of them and make the windows key (required) a physical button

Looks goods.. Bad specs.. also the touch buttons are at right side bottom, which is the place i hold a tablet most of the time.

Those specs are lackluster. If it is cheap I might consider but Nokia doesnt sell thing based on low cost. Its weird specs are so low considering “apollo” is looming large over mid year that allows specs to be much higher. Id like to see a phablet at 5.1 inches and a 7inch and a 10.1 options at 199.99 299.99 and 399.99 at these specs.

If it were real, I’d get it. Nice.

While I get absolutely incensed over idiots who insist Windows Phones need multiple cores (that’s just stupid), since this concept is supposed to be a tablet, I have to agree with the descenters.  Also, after seeing how Win8 is supposed to work with wider-screen format tablets, you clearly will lose that functionality on a square tablet like this one.

I won’t repeat the need for better specs because it’s an obvious need for intense apps/games, but … WOW. Good looking tabs there. I like the charm bar-ish button set, too. Cool stuff, Nokia.

      Day one if ever real.

Dont like it at all. Not 16:9…looks too bulky.
