Nokia N97 vs HTC Touch Pro 2 – another round

IntoMobile has done the now classic face-off between these two smartphone titans again, and unsurprisingly, again came down on the side of the HTC Touch Pro 2.

While this comparison is of course completely subjective, it is of note that the Nokia N97 is being widely compared to the device which shares its same form factor, and probably the only place it ever won is on Allaboutsymbian.com

The guy from Brighthand seemed to like the n97, also. Don’t get me wrong, I love these “vs.” articles. It makes my choosing what is most important to my needs easier. Thank goodness not all phones are from a cookie cutter.

I was a long time symbian fan, i had 7 the last being the N96 8GB, which i loved, BUT the N97 is poor. I think its ugly and cheap looking, i dont like the interface that much and for me it was slow.

Both phones (from what I read thus far) are brilliant. The Touch Pro 2 is brilliant with graphics and software, the N97 is exceptional in build and hardware features (again based on what I have read). I tend to agree that the Symbian software is a bit outdated relative to other operating systems, but as I place such high stock on hardware quality I wonder (and I throw this question out to both camps) is there a Symbian release scheduled in the near future which will ‘at least’ hold its own with the other Smartphone software. If no I will purchase the Touch Pro 2 immediately; If yes I will buy the Nokia N97 fairly soon.
