Nokia Portugal says no Nokia WP7 for them until “early 2012”

While we are pretty certain Nokia will introduce their first Windows Phone 7 handset in October and have it widely available in Europe, it seems not all countries on the continent will be equally blessed.

Pocketpt.net, a Portuguese Windows phone 7 website, contacted Nokia Portugal to ask when handsets will be available in the country.

@ Filipe - Nokia Phone Windows will be available in Portugal as early as next year!

Filipe from Pocketpt.net notes that the Nokia brand is very strong in Portugal, and the country would have accepted a Nokia Windows Phone 7 handset without any issue. With the delayed launch there Windows Phone 7 users there may turn to HTC’s new generation handsets instead.

I cant understand how these supposedly clever people from Nokia don’t realise they are on borrowed time. Explains how they got to this sorry state, they clearly lack common sense and must be detached from reality. The MS/Nokia deal was struck ages ago and there’s no excuse whatsoever as to why they don’t have a device ready for mass market.
Android is swallowing everything in its path while they are being lazy doing f***all. Nokia is already ailing and they seem to think they can wait another 7-8 months before they roll out Mango devices to the masses. #baffling

Because they are busy making other devices!. Remember the first Nokia WP7 prototype? The one in black, magenta and cyan? It’s real. But… it runs Symbian Belle.

If the Nokia brand is realy that strong in Portugal, they wont mind to wait a few more months, they wont go for HTC as you mentioned that they like Nokia, and Nokia can introduce WP to them, so HTC is no option.

American bubble it seems is quite prevalent. I know it seems rude, and I’m sorry if I am wrong but, most nokia centric countries shun HTC devices because they seem “complicated” or are overpriced, even the cheaper ones(excluding rubbish like the cha cha) if Portugal is as strong as it seems, users will either just get the n9 or one of the new symbian phones, it is only a few people who even know that nokia and MS are in a partnership. Even fewer care about the OS on their phone.
