Nokia selling off Vertu brand–No luxury Windows Phones after all?

Vertu is Nokia’s luxury brand, much like Lexus is Toyota’s.  In August Eldar told us Vertu Windows Phones were on the way. It seems the old sage is wrong, as Nokia appears to be in the process of selling off their Vertu subsidiary.

ZDNet reports that Goldman Sachs has been tasked with selling the subsidiary, with keen interest from private equity investors in the division, which had between 200 and 300 million euros in sale last year.

At the time when Vertu windows phones were postulated there were very little support from our readers.  Given that this may now never happen, do you feel this is a loss to the Windows Phone ecosystem? Let us know below.
