Nominate Cool Windows Mobile software, win $20

Today is a terminally slow news day so far, so I thought now would be a good opportunity to ask our readers which Windows Mobile software they consider cool, but which we may not have heard of before. I will do a round-up of what I consider to be a selection of the best apps tomorrow.

To spice things up a little bit one of the commenters (chosen at random) will win $20 (delivered via Paypal) but only if its a real suggestion, and if the total comments exceed 50.

A_C’s s2 series at http://www.ac-s2.com/ gives a touch friendly music, picture, and slide to unlock program. It also can utilize the accelerometer of some devices like the HTC Touch Diamond.

My suggestion is MobilePackager “www.mobilepackager.com” This is not as such a windows mobile software but it is a windows desktop application that allows you to create very cool application installers for windows mobile.

You know how the cab installation is boring and not that professional when you compare it with it’s desktop counterpart(s). This software allows you to create very cool installers with progress bar, status text and image background.

It creates two type of installers, one that you can launch from your desktop machine and install through ActiveSync. The second one is an installer that you can launch from within your mobile device and this is good for “Over The Air” installation and program auto updates.

It has very cool features where you can bundle multiple CAB files, all files are compressed to minimize the size of installation, you create shortcuts, registry entries, you can soft reset after installation is complete or launch an executable once during your installation and many more …

It is not again windows mobile software but it allows you to create very cool windows mobile based installers. May be this the very cool software for such a very cool day!!

There are a lot so it is rather hard to point one specifically, so I’ll go with 2 .

AE Button Plus (http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php) – Lets you customize and create up to 4 shortcuts per every hard button in windows mobile. While it is still far away, it is the closest thing to AutoHotKey for Windows.

iSilo (http://www.isilo.com/) – Originally my favorite book reader for Palm. However, now that I’ve tried 3 different book readers for PPC, I came back to iSilo and it felt just like coming home.

And the mentioned NullKB is great

Useful for monitoring speed, distance, alititude traveled in sporting activities such as skiing, snowboarding, roller skating, etc. I used it in Utah last year to determine that i went 71.5mph down a ski slope. Very cool stuff..

Hi!

In my opinion, one great app is “Fake Call”. In a few taps, we can pretend we are receiving a call and escape of a annoying situations.

The best part is that we can adjust the time to receive the call, select who is going to call us and the interface is friendly.

For me,i cant live without having resco explorer 2008 on my ppc
file manager has never been this easy with such cool and friendly interface that suits my HTC diamond well

TotalCommander CE. I use that app more than any other. I think it’s the best explorer/registry editor app, etc.

Second to that for me (but probably a heck of a lot more complicated to write) is DotFred’s Task Manager. That app allows you to do the most digging into the internals of WM than any other… Manage running apps, processes, services, registry, window handles, notification queue, ipconfig, and probably half a dozen other things I can’t even think of. DotFred makes some other cool apps too, but Task Manager is extremely handy for tweakers and developers.

Their is a program called viewcommander. I can view all my ip cameras individually. I use to have it installed on my Mogul and recently installed on my Touch Pro. The resolution difference is amazing. If you have a camera system in your business, this is a must have. I use sprint evdo and the video streams flawlessly. Its pretty amazing.

I used Skype on my Tilt all the time to call internationally, paired with Bluetooth Audio, they are a great combo!

Pocketshield, the only application i have ever purchased. its a lock/unlock app that utilizes the various sensors on new phones such as the touch pro. u can unlock by light, shaking it, and sliding your finger.

Salling Clicker

It lets you control the mouse on your pc, or iTunes, WMP, Winamp, and others with album art and all kinds of other navigational tools. It also works with powerpoint and a bunch of others. The whole things works on WinMo 5/6 over bluetooth or WiFi, great for parties.

I nominate phoneAlarm.

WinMob has no inbuilt profile manager. phoneAlarm does that letting you set everything from individual alarm tones per event (SMS, email, voicemail…), set backlight level and duration and automate it all by time, “context,” gps tower, wifi SSID…

It is the first piece of software I put an any new device. Yes, this probably sounds like an ad. I am surprised, though, how few people know about this program – which has actually replaced TouchFlo 3D as my Fuze interface.
