Opera Mobile 10 beta now out for Symbian, will come to Windows Mobile soon too

Symbian users have long been envious of the rapid release of Opera Mobile 9.5 on Windows Mobile, having seen their version stagnate in beta for quite some time.

It seems now Windows Mobile users will have to wait, as Opera has just announced the latest version of their browser for Symbian. The version promises better rendering, faster speeds, and an innovative tabbed browsing experience which i am sure is having many of us drooling.

Opera’’s official press release makes no mention of Windows Mobile, but unofficially it is understood a Windows mobile versions will also soon be coming.

i'm not sure opera mobile 10 for WinMo will look anything like this. This is just opera mini 5 for symbian, just compare it to 9.7 for WM and j2me Opera Mini 5 beta and you'll see exactly what i mean…

It is the native version however with the mini look and feel. No JAVA involved

all the apps for symbian seems to be made in JAVA, if you can find an app for that platform that is not made in java then I solute you. but until then this is Opera Mini 5 in JAVA code re-named and running on symbian.

maybe they are going to use opera mobile for all platforms? this may just be a java version of opera mobile 10. so when they release 10 for wm it will have the same features and design?

Things tend not to come out of beta for opera anymore. Public things at least. They never released a final 9.5 to the public. Wonder if they ever will for 9.7.

i think they're trying the get the version number the same as for the desktop so they may not want to spend ages getting it ready for full release.

it doesn't matter if it comes out of beta or not as long as I can use it….if it doesn't come out of beta then I don't have to pay for a new version because they might want to charge for it like they did in the past. so if it stays in beta, they I can use it for free…..

I doubt they will start charging for it again. It would be really weird to go from paid to free to paid in such a short time. HTC pay them for it anyway now too. If they were going to charge again then they would make a new version under a different name.

Yes but the beta versions do not really work well. I am not talking about the versions pirated from HTC devices (yes, they are pirated). Dont get me wrong, I use them too. I am not putting anyone down for using them. My point though is that they have not released a finished product to end users for a long time, free or otherwise. 9.7 beta is pretty good and I use that but it still has unfinished features. I agree with Foamy though. I dont think they will charge again. You can make much more of OEM licensing.
