Pic2Shop barcode scanning comparison shopping app comes to Windows Phone 7

pic2shop2 Windows Phone 7 is quickly gaining access to services previously exclusive on the iPhone.

Pic2Shop is such a service, and despite what the video says, the software is in fact now available on Android and Windows phone 7, and provides comparison prices at thousands of online and local retailers in numerous countries.

The app features:

• Fully automatic: No need to align or rotate the image manually
• Online and local search: Thousands of retailers help you get the best prices
• Library search: Why pay when you can check things out? Pic2Shop searches local libraries for what you are interested in and will even tell you if it’s checked out (and when it’s due back!).
• Email: Send the last entry… or the last 20 entries to yourself or a friend via email
• Fast: Reading the barcode takes less than half a second

uh how are they doing this without camera API access. No way it only takes half a second to scan a bar code on Wp7

Scanning an item takes you into the photo mode. Once you've taken the photo, it asks you whether to accept or retake. When you accept, it looks up them item quickly.

Yeah, what do people mean when they say there's no camera API currently? I see this and other apps using camera to take and analyze pictures. I don't understand.

Read what Tom said. You can't have the camera's video feed inside your app, the app has to launch the camera and then you take a picture outside of the application. That means no live scanning of barcodes like there is on the iPhone, Android, and Windows Mobile.

I agree 100% with you….this app is garbage compared to shop-savvy or PSA (Personal Shopping Assistant).
Whats killing the "scan bar code apps" is Microsoft!
To me this video is just promoting the iPhone….hmm

As someone who has at least used this app on both the Iphone and Windows Phone 7, I can tell you that the scan speed and results are exactly the same! In the future, please at least USE the app before making useless comments.
