Second Update For Nokia Lumia 800 Rolling Out Next Week

As promised by Nokia earlier, second update for Nokia Lumia 800 devices will be rolling out starting next week. It may take some weeks for all the Lumia 800 devices around the world to get this update. This update will include no.of charging related (high voltage charging), power optimizations and some performance related updates that will further push your Lumia 800 usage. Also the default camera mode in Lumia 800 will be changed from Macro to Normal mode. Earlier there were reports about slow auto-focus and poor low light performance issues in Lumia 800. If you face any specific issue in Lumia 800 camera, let us know in the comments. We will check with Nokia whether those issues were fixed in the upcoming update.

yes! I have the camera issue. Sometimes the photos are blurie even in daylight?!

I too have this issue on my 800. Not only are the photos not sharp, there is also a tint to them.
The camera on the 800 is terrible to say the least. Like I’ve said before on here and other blog site (ignored on here) the Lumia 800 is missing a bunch of camera settings such as:

1. Wide Dynamic Range
2. Anti-shaking
3. Sharpness

… and in some cases they complete changed some of the camera setting.

Photos taken with 800 exhibits the following:

1. Not sharp
2. Have a tint to them
3. Have noise off the chart for phone camera
4. suck in low-light.

On the issue of camera settings, normal people just would like to pick up a phone and take pictures not fiddle with camera settings to great a decent picture. Certain setting should be the default or eliminated all together. Setting like:

- AF – default should always be NORMAL
- Resolution – default alway set to the camera max both for stills (8MP) and videos (720p). Who the hell want to take low res pics and vids
- Anti-Shaking and Saturation should be handled by the camera by default.

yea camera less than what i expected…

white balance: if i put it in auto, when it captures the image, the centre part turns green-ish (at times)
bit noisy?
otherwise pretty good, keep improving it!!!!!

Brave of you to decide what is useful for me or not but FYI I have most of my family and friends in Spain so having a solution to speak over IP reliably anywhere I am is actually a fantastic feature I am missing. My phone bill would be massively

if you look at the audio vs video stats skype released, most people use it for audio only (even though web cams are everywhere)

I remember carriers using the video calling feature to push 3G in the early days in europe (on feature phones), but people just never really cared enough about it

making free long distance phones calls? that’s another story

The Lumia 800 is way too eager to hunt for focus – if there’s constant action in the scene, the Lumia 800 would refocus every several seconds, which gets really annoying. Problems on my Lumia 800 :
- bad focus on video (sometimes, it’s just blurry, I’m forced to stop the recording to have a focused video again)
- very bad perfs on video viewing (mp4 from website as youtube) : it stutters badly the first minute (while the video is loading, and it’s not a bandwidth problem, the video is loaded@50% and it’s stuttering @ the beginning…)

No big deal…. I remember when WP7 was released at the very beginning, the camera app does not even save its settings and settings will get reset everything it is loaded again. Even such big company like MS make similar mistakes.

The camera not “saving” settings wasn’t a mistake… that was actually a feature as Microsoft said.

Even with Mango, the camera doesn’t “save” your settings. They simply added a new feature to configure the default settings.

I’ve had 3 problems with the Lumia 800 from switching from iPhone 4. Apps, but Real Racing 2 (my fav iOS game) is coming to WP soon, Personal Hotspot, and the dreadful camera. I’ve had more problems with video capture image quality than photo, hopefully the update fixes both problems, and EAs big titles can arrive to Windows Phone as soon as!

Please also check with Nokia, if the update makes the phone working more stable. My Lumia 800 freezes some times when I am trying to start a phone call. The call arrives the other phone, but my Lumia freezes and I have to reboot it. The last update is installed and a hard reset did not resolve the problem. It happend about 8 times in only 5 weeks… Without that big problem I would love it!

Any news abuot the possibility to have “static ip” when using wi-fi? All other mobile os incl.WM 6 is ok since a long time ago ;-(
Hopefully it will be in the update.
And one more: possibility to save credentials(username/password) in ie? any news
