SkyDrive can stream video also

Mobiletechworld uploaded this video to make sure readers know that its not just audio which can be streamed from SkyDrive, but video also.

Of course that 100 MB per file upload limit hurts a lot more for video than mp3 files, so, like the audio streaming, it is more a proof of concept than anything else.

Of note however is that the SkyDrive team tweeted than with Mango they were focussing on seamless photo and document integration, suggesting (hopefully) that music and video may be in the cards for the next revision.

If only moving files around in SkyDrive on the web was intuitive … It is a pain …

If the rumor about the next update (Tango) is true then that should be the “entertainment” update iirc. That could bring deeper music and video streaming with skydrive and WP. Right now though, just pin your skydrive folder from IE9 to the start screen and access it quick that way, let IE9 playback the files.

Yes but it would definitely be perfect if a person could be able to stream it directly from the Skydrive on your phone and not have to go to the internet. It defeats the whole purpose of being INTEGRATED!!!

The problem is that it can’t play music in the background… it’s kind of useless as of now

Wow finally I can stream 720p video on my WP7… only it is max 100MB and only 5 minutes. (camera vid en youtube and other apps can stream 720p 2!)

Until now I could get 800×480 (1200 kbps 128 aac) MP4 video on my WP7 WITHOUT the reconverting in Zune desktop. It look great!!

I wish for 1280×720 on my WP7 without the reconverting in Zune. But this is only necessary if MS comes with video output for USB to HDMI to the TV… or 1080p by then!

Actually, with the explorer registry change where you can access internal files on the phone using windows explorer, you can copy a 720p video without conversion, and it plays perfectly on the phone.

I posted this earlier before.. You can actually make a folder in the “root” folder of Skydrive. It will appear on the Picture Hub. It wont open IE or such, instead it will stream it right away.
