Slacker radio liberated from T-Mo HTC HD2

We wrote yesterday about the treasure trove of entertainment software on the HTC HD2. One of those packages is the Slacker streaming radio service, which appears to have made the transition to Windows Mobile very nicely, with a very attractive UI.

The package has now been ripped from the HTC HD2 ROM, and is available to download from XDA-Developers here.

The software, much like Pandora, only works in USA unfortunately, is designed for WVGA screens and you are only allowed to skip 6 songs in one hour, but for US residents it is still a great find.

Hmm, everything is limited to the US… whatever, Groovefish is fine and the WM client looks good.

It's pretty good for me. Great stations, good variety, great UI. The only downsides I've found are that it cuts out way too much (I'll just be getting into a song and it will lose signal/time out and I'll have to wait anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or more for it to stream again) and when a song is finished it doesn't always auto play the next song (I sometimes think it's lost the signal again and upon checking the device see the triangle icon meaning I need to manually start playing the next song). Other than those two, it's worked really well for me.

I have Slacker for HTC and it doesn't run very smoothly.I thought that it was my phone but I don't have much loaded on my phone becaus its new and it runs just as slow on my husbands and my sons HTC as well. It seems to get frozen alot and the heart button doesn't seem to save anything to my favorites. I paid for the subscription but I think I am going to cancel after only a week.

Pandora is 10X better and has a much more updated database of options. I pray they bring it to the HTC HD2 because most users already have a account with them to begin with!
