Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade coming…. eventually

Sprint has let it be known in their forums that they and HTC are working on an official Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade for the Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2.

Windows Mobile 6.5 Planned for HTC Touch Pro2 from Sprint

Sprint and HTC are currently developing a release of Windows Mobile 6.5 for the HTC Touch Pro2 that is expected to be available to customers by end of first quarter, 2010. This upgrade will not only provide updates to the Windows Mobile platform, but also significant enhancements to the Touch Pro2 user interface which will allow additional customization/personalization options and more integration with the applications users access most.

Of course most people who really wanted it are probably running a hacked ROM by now, but if you want to be sure about preserving your warranty official is the only way to go, so this development is certainly long overdue good news.

Does anyone expect anything unusual about the upgrade, like Windows Mobile 6.5.3 for example? Let us know below.

They'd better be. The only thing Verizon's 6.5 upgrade gave them with the UI was weather on the home screen. I wouldn't exactly call that "significant enhancements"

It does sound something like that, but the HD2 is the self-proclaimed first WinMo phone with HTC Sense. Perhaps they have to wait until the HD2 is released in the U.S. before upgrading the Sprint ROM?

The HD2 has Sense 2.5. The newer 6.5 ROMs for the TP2 (US Cellular, Verizon) are labeled as Sense 2.1

Love Sprint! Not so much the TP2. But looking forward to the upgrade! Seriously though folks – I dont know why Sprint is constantly dinged. Free roaming, cheaper plans than any Tier 1 carrier. And you get all of Verizon's coverage with free roaming. Not that I have to roam often – I am a management consultant that travels every week to various clients all over the country and I have never had issues with native Sprint coverage. (my clients are not in the boondocks of course, so maybe that helps)

Yes we all know Android, Droid and Iphone are just all a bunch of lack of features phones. It just all talk and NO SHOW. TP2 shows more and easily blows those crappy phones away.
