SurfCube- New 3D Windows Phone 7 Browser

We have seen many browsers based on IE Mobile in Windows Phone 7 platform with lots of features which the default browser is lacking from. Here is an another interesting browser app. The concept is based on a 3D cube, you flick over different sides of the cube to navigate across screens. It has landscape mode, orientation lock, bandwidth saver, private mode and support for accelerometer as well. The app was published by Kinabalu innovation and developed by Response,the guys behind Zoomery,a deep zoom based implementation. What do you think of this app?

Update: It will be live in Zune marketplace within some hours and it costs $1.99. However you can try it by downloading the fully functional trial.

OH MY… love this! It´s got both, mindblowing visuals and functionality! Too bad you can only pay via credit card in marketplace. MS should really add Paypal.

Paypal would be nice, or just let you use MS points as well, I don't get why they don't support their own point system for WP7 apps. Well, maybe it could be because $1.99 or anything with cents could be a points mess to calculate I guess so that could be the reason.

I'd be open to prepaid giftcards, Same thing they have with MS points already. That would help lots of people who can't use their CC to buy apps yet.

Paypal would be a nice option but I don't think it'll come around for sometime – I think they are testing Paypal in Xbox in the US right now – you still can't buy with Paypal in other countries (even as close as Canada.)

The reason why they don't use Xbox Points is because not all countries have an Xbox marketplace…

i use my debit card just fine, it does not have to be a credit card its just some of the lesser cards some banks use are not recognized. Maybe ask your bank for a visa card.

Though saying that prepaid credit or ms points is still a defo must if not to just allow for presents etc

I didn't like how the address bar tilted down while the page was loading (it looked distorted so I didn't really see the point) but I think I'm in love with that awesome 'flick detection' feature!

Saad, you can turn the tilting off if you want. The tilt looks much better on a real phone though, but I see how that was not clear on the video. And thanks for being in love with the app!

You can turn off the tilting – hope this makes you happy Also, on a real device, the address bar is very much readable, along with the page being loaded when tilted. Granted, the video does not show this well… And thanks for being in love!

We want to do tabs right, and at the moment, none of the third party browsers are doing it right (in my humble opinion), because it is hard – both from a technical, and a user experience standpoint. If you have the time, please send an email to apps (at) kinabaluinnovation.com, explaining how you would love to use tabs, and what would you use them for? We would love to hear your opinion.

Also, please note that after the initial purchase, any further update to the app will be free of charge.

Love the app…although sliding up is kind of unusable with the HD7… because of the buttons at the bottom, but otherwise, it's a nice experience. Thanks for sharing.

I have an HD7 as well, I just use the accelerometer by jerking it upward. Kudos to the developer, This is an excellent user experience!

Thanks! – this is why the bottom side is empty right now. If you don't want to use the accelerometer, you can also go back from the top (favorites + address bar) to the browser with the back button, no need to slide up. Actually, the back button takes you back to the browser side from any other sides.
