HTC Giving the Fuze a Little T.V. Time
So everywhere we look, we see AT&T commercials promoting various devices. There has definitely been however, a lack of advertisement in the U.S. for HTC devices carried by AT&T, until now.
The ‘How I Fuze’ television commercials are now upon us, and hopefully this powerful Windows Mobile device will start to get the attention it deserves.
It would be easy to sit around and debate who’s fault it was (AT&T or HTC) for waiting so long to put this gorgeous handset into the limelight, but we at wmpoweruser.com like to focus on the positive. The Fuze has now become visible for the masses to see from their living rooms here in the States, and we are definitely proud to have her.
Check out these videos:
It sure is nice to see these clips hitting the airwaves here in the U.S. Thanks to FuzeMobility for posting these. To see the original post, go here, then let us know what you think in the comments.
Tip: How to make your Touch Pro/Fuze D-pad work a lot better
Many HTC Touch Pro users have complained about the HTC Touch Pro D-pad. Up and down works fine, but left, and especially right works pretty poorly, with accidental activation of the surrounding keys very common.
Fortunately it seems there is a better way after all. The fortuitous destruction of a HTC Touch Pro has given us an inside look at the D-pad, and one sharp xda-developer named Vexingv suggested that instead of trying to press the rim of the D-pad, it may be better to actually press between the Back and End Call, or Home and Call button.

Amazingly it works much better, as can be seen in the video below. It very soon becomes second nature, and you will very soon wonder what the problem was after all.
Let us know in the comment section if it works for you too.
HTC Touch Pro tear down – using car tyres
Before
Ever wonder what the insides of our slick smartphones looks like? The misfortune of a member of XDA-Developers, who dropped his phone 50 metres (164 feet), and saw it run over by two cars have given us a peek into the insides of the device, and it isn’t pretty. (click for larger versions)
After
The main lesson here is clearly that one should attach something to that lanyard hook after all, and that some things can not be unseen. Another good idea may be to get insurance for your device, which fortunately covered this accident.

AT&T HTC Fuze reviewed
WMExperts has put up a full review of the upcoming HTC Fuze, and I think its safe to say they like it. Their conclusion was:
The Fuze is a powerful and polished Windows Mobile smartphone. If you don’t mind needing two hands to type and you’re on AT&T, the only reason I see not to upgrade is if you’re holding out for the Xperia X1. Even compared against the X1, however, the Fuze more than holds its own. The high resolution screen, decent performance, small form factor, and included software mean that it really does deserve the ‘next gen’ moniker I gave it at the beginning of the review.
My quibbles: Battery life is only barely adequate, I wish there was a 3.5mm headset jack, I did experience occasional lag, and I do think that there’s still too much UI dissonance between Windows Mobile and TouchFlo 3D. Experienced Windows Mobile users know how to get around all of those issues, though, and if that’s you, then the Fuze just may be in your future.
| Pros | Cons |
| Compact size, despite thickness Great screen Good suite of built-in software 3G, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth Much faster and more responsive than the Tilt |
Battery good for a full day at best Dissonance between TouchFlo 3D and Windows Mobile UI |
Overall their score it a solid 4/5 , which I think is a bit low for such a fantastic device, which i think will make most of its users very happy.
In related news it appears some AT&T stores are selling their Fuze’s early, so if you are lucky you may just be able to walk into your local store and pick one up!
Internal AT&T HTC Fuze brochure leaked
Via FuzeMobility.com, we bring you an internal brochure describing the AT&T HTC Fuze. Not too much new here of course, but its nice to see most of the features are intact. Mention is made of TV-out, but unfortunately nothing is said about the FM Radio.

Another day, another date – AT&T Fuze now set for 11/11 launch
The HTC Fuze, AT&T’s version of the HTC Touch Pro, has seen many launch dates come and go, but at least you want have to wait too long for the latest one.
The BGR has received internal AT&T documents dating the Fuze for a November 11th launch. According the BG the device will be rather pricy:

HTC Fuze vs HTC G1 pictures
Some more pictures, taken by AT&T Forum member Fokized, have been sent in to us by one of our readers. It shows the device side by side with the HTC G1, HTC’s first android phone, and while the Android device does not look as bad as many suggest, the Fuze certainly looks a bit more modern and polished.

Thanks Nabeel for the tip.
More HTC Fuze pictures
One of our readers has been kind enough to forward these pictures of the upcoming HTC Fuze. The most striking difference between the Fuze and the Touch Pro (besides the colour scheme) is the keyboard, and this picture gives a very good look at the lay-out. Some thought appears to have gone into the lay-out, and many users report that the lay-out is actually more usable than the traditional QWERTY lay-out of the HTC Touch Pro.
Credit: Thanks Dan for forwarding these pictures, which apparently originated on the ATT forums.
HTC Fuze will have Diamond-like faceted back
We have seen many pictures of the HTC Fuze, AT&T’s version of the HTC Touch Pro, but they have never been of very good quality. This single picture which showed up on xda-developers show the Fuze will have same faceted back as the HTC Touch Pro, rather than the flat back as seen on the Sprint Touch Pro.
Whether this will be seen as a blessing or a curse will be up to personal opinion.
HTC Fuze dated for 4 November
The BGR has just put up some internal AT&T documents, and while he is obsessed with RIM’s releases on this site we pay a bit more attention to the Windows Mobile Products.
From the screen shot (above) we can see the AT&T Fuze (called the HTC Fuze) is expected to be released on the 4th November 2008, while the LG Incite is expect to be released 2 weeks later, on the 20th November 2008.

New AT&T Fuze pictures
The AT&T Fuze, AT&T’s version of the HTC Touch Pro is due to drop pretty soon. The latest dates rumoured are November 3rd, and pre-release devices are obviously floating around all over.
Today we have a few new pictures of the AT&T device. The first show the external appearance of the device, which thankfully appears to have minimal AT&T branding, and maintains the sleek now-htc trademark looks.
The next (extremely blurry) pictures shows a program tab dedicated to AT&T’s apps such as their music, app store and media net.

AT&T Fuze’s specs hit HTC WIKI
The full specs of AT&T’s version of the HTC Touch Pro has shown up on the HTC WIKI, HTC’s semi-official user support outlet. Of note is that the FM radio is not mentioned at all, and also that it will come with Blackberry connect. Further its also clear that AT&T will continue with their much modified version of the keyboard, which does to me reduce the appeal of the 5-row device.
Read the full specs below after the break.

AT&T Fuze (Touch Pro) and Samsung Epix (i780) gets a price
An Engadget tipster has revealed the price of AT&T’s latest upcoming smartphones. For Windows Mobile fans there are two devices of interest.
First, the much anticipated AT&T Fuze, better known to us as the HTC Touch Pro, will be sold $299 with a 2 year contract, clearly showing its business-class credentials.
Slightly cheaper is the Samsung Epix, better known to us as the Samsung i780. This device will be sold for $199 on a two year contract.
Both devices sport very similar specs, being Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional devices with 3G, GPS, WIFI, and keyboards, but the Fuze has a slide-out keyboard vs the Epix’s always exposed keyboard. To justify its higher price, the Fuze does come equipped with a higher resolution VGA screen (vs the 320×320 version on the Epix), and also a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and goodies such as TV out and the ground-breaking Touchflo3D UI.
