My Thoughts On Dell Venue Pro
After long time, I had a chance to play with Dell Venue Pro device for more than a week. It was the only device, which I want to play with and never had a chance to do so. Though it would be inappropriate to look at a old generation device, I just want to share my experience with the device. Even though the device looks great as its specs, what about sales of the device ? Why it didn’t became a top seller? Find my thoughts on Dell Venue Pro’s software and hardware and Dell’s execution on these device after the break.
HTC Trophy for Verizon: Video Review
The HTC Trophy is Verizon’s first Windows Phone 7, and with the Trophy, every major carrier in the United States now has a Windows Phone device. Verizon’s Trophy is CDMA of course, and it features 16 GB of storage instead of the usual 8 GB, which is a much appreciated bump in storage space. Watch our video review embedded above, or continue reading below for the written review!
Overview
The HTC Trophy is a fantastic Windows Phone device that Verizon users should gladly welcome. It does have a few downsides like poor call quality, a below-par camera, and a standard LCD screen, but when you experience all the positives like the absolutely solid hardware, perfect screen size, and an overall fun user experience, those disadvantages can slip into the back of your mind.
Hardware
The specs are the usual first generation Windows Phone 7 specs (1 GHz processor, WVGA capacitive screen, etc), but the Verizon version has 16 GB of storage which is a nice touch. The phone is very thin (0.47″) and feels incredible in your hand. It’s not too big, not too small, and feels like it was meant to be held by you. The visual design of the phone looks excellent too. The entire phone seems very solid. There aren’t any complaints about the phone’s hardware. Continue reading

Microsoft To Launch Windows Phone 7 In India Later This Year, Hints Nokia As Partner
Amit Chatterjee who recently succeeded Srini Koppulu as the MD of Microsoft India Development Centre (IDC) interacted with media for the first time after his new job. When questioned about Windows Phone 7 and Bing launch in India, Amit Chatterjee said,
On Windows Phone 7:
“I don’t have the details on the exact date of launch of the Windows phone in India but I am sure it will be this year, mostly likely in the latter part of the year.”
He added that Microsoft is likely join forces with Nokia for exploring the Indian market.
On Bing:
“We don’t want to rush things and plan to bring out the product properly, keeping in view user experience.”
Its important to note that Microsoft’s OEM partners like HTC, Dell have already started selling Windows Phone 7 devices without Microsoft’s support. Those devices won’t have marketplace, Xbox and Zune support. I think Microsoft should work closely with its partners to ensure that the WP7 users get the best experience possible.

HTC Arrive a Windows Phone 7 Device For Sprint?
Engadget today reported based on a tip from a anonymous tipster that HTC Arrive may be a Windows Phone 7 device coming to Sprint and posted the logo of the HTC Arrive. Later the HTC Arrive trademark was confirmed by the registration of HTC Arrive trademark at USPTO.
There is however a suspicion that the Arrive may instead my be an Android device, given that the confirmed Sprint-bound HTC 7 Pro has already been branded and is being shown prominently on HTC’s website.
Thanks to Mobile Paddy for the tip.

Will Windows Phone 7 get better hardware next year?
The first batch of WP7 hardware devices have been lackluster to say the least. Most of them have simply been retrofits from previously existing hardware in the market. I have to admit that I’m getting jealous of all the new hardware that the Android platform is getting from the dual core LG Optimus 2x, the Nexus S, LG B and all, loaded with front facing cameras, HDMI outs, NFC chips, gyroscopes and everything a tech enthusiast would like to have on their phone.
Where are the the WP7 devices with built in wireless charging like the Palm Pre, or HD radio (in the US) capabilities like the Zune HD, or even Digital Audio Broadcasting format in the rest of the world? Microsoft did a good job laying down minimum specs for the OS but they will need to step up in the next revision because unfortunately, the OEMS stuck to the minimum this time around. This has become a huge annoyance especially when it comes to built in storage where a majority of the phones come with only 8GB of storage where I think 16 GB should have been the minimum, with options for 32 and 64 GB also readily available.
As we go into next year, with CES around the corner, what kind of hardware improvements would your like to see on the next generation of WP7 devices?
Sprint also set to get a WP7 device in January
Well, it looks like all the major mobile carriers will have a WP7 device in their lineup by early next year. Neowin is reporting that their sources have confirmed the arrival of WP7 devices on both Sprint and Verizon in January. Their sources did not reveal the actual devices but it is already widely believed that Verizon will carry the HTC 7 Trophy while Sprint is rumored to carry the HTC 7 Pro. For all our readers on those two networks who have been waiting patiently for the chance to jump on to the WP7 train, your wait is almost over!
HTC HD7 Coming To AT&T ?
Currently AT&T users have only three choices HTC Surround, Samsung Focus, LG Quantum to pick up their WP7 device. HTC Surround device didn’t get much response from people as HTC HD7 and devices from other OEM’s had. HTC allowed T-Mobile users to enjoy HTC HD7 device which boasts the largest screen of 4.3 inch among WP7 devices. Many people pick HD7 mainly because of its huge display. Now the good news for AT&T users is that a HTC HD7 like device with almost exact specification with different model number PD29130 supporting AT&T WCDMA Band V and II radios required for AT&T HSPA connectivity has passed FCC. So can we expect HTC HD7 on AT&T soon ?

HTC Spark in the wild
We’ve already posted the specs of the HTC Spark, and there have been some press shots of it, but what about some nice shots of a real device?
HTCs hub seems to be intact, and looking slightly more in keeping with the rest of the UI, and either it’s tester is on Vodafone, or it’s seeing a release on Vodafone (which I think is likely).
Is HTCs Hub to your taste, or do you prefer the look of straight WP7?
