HTC Trophy Now With A Mug Shot
It seems we are not the only one leaking news these days. Pocketnow seems to have gotten a little tip from someone that includes an image of what seems to be an upcoming device that will be running WP7. This device does not come with much information, but just a name and a picture.
It’s a bit funny that the title Trophy was once thought of as a Windows Mobile device, but I guess HTC had us going for some time.
Quick question for all the readers… Does it seem like with every leak, the HTC devices are looking better? I do not know, but that is what I have been noticing.
Alphabet Crayon Game For WP7
In a world were teaching the basic things to a baby is the TV and Dora The Explorers job, this application can even employ your upcoming Windows Phone 7 device to the team. Posted by the guys at MD, this game strives to teach toddlers the way to go through the alphabet. The game was tested and proven functional by a 3 year old and so we can say it will work perfectly fine for my niece that always wants to see my phone. Now since I am sure we do not have many toddlers in our reader base I will keep it at that, and you can enjoy the video.
LG Optimus 7 coming to Orange UK?

The LG Optimus 7 may or may not be the GW910 (“Panther”) or the E900 pictured above.
Whilst the LG Optimus 7 probably won’t be sporting Tegra 2 as indicated here, it probably is coming to Orange UK.
From what I’ve heard, Orange UK are probably launching the LG Optimus 7 ("but not by that name" as my contact said). Orange UK have previously state strong support for WP7, and since it’s part of Everything Everywhere, I guess T-Mobile might be getting it to.
Anyone interested in carrier subsidised device, or are people more interested in SIM free devices?
RPG Game For WM Now Available
Now I am not a huge RPG player, so I cannot say I know or have played this game but I am sure some of you guys might be interested. Ported/developed by XDA member zyphuris55, this new game is a mini game that used to be played quite common on the PS1+2. Now considering I have very few experience with this all I can say is the comments seem positive and the updates seem to be rolling just fine.
If you are interested in getting a little game on your WM device read on:
My Favorite ROM Of June-Present

In our previous post asking what people want from us, I received some requests asking if we could have some more ROM articles. This is not my review of Elegance’s latest release, but just a pre article telling you that if you are an HD2 owner looking for a stable, fast, and smooth ROM to replace what you currently have… This ROM is the best (from my experience).
I have said this before, but I used to be the biggest Energy ROM fan. Flashed it with my Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2, and HD2. I always used them, and recommended it till one day when NRG did not update the ROM for over 7 days (I know, he never does that), I starting itching to flash (flashaholic) and found Elegance ROM. Since then I have only used it on my HD2 every release is better than the previous and is not constantly updated(like other ROMs), and that is because it is stable, and simply perfect. When an update is available (twice a month usually), it just brings updates to the software, not much fixes (non that I have noticed).
I am just about to flash this ROM, so if you trust me, you should try it ASAP, and get ready to enjoy your device much more.
My Slogan for Elegance ROM “Elegance ROM, Once you go Elegance, you will be a bit unfaithful at times, but you will always go back”
WP7 Lock Screen Now Ported (sort of) To WM6.5
Having that Windows Phone 7 feel while you wait seems to have become important to some, and if that is you, this new lock screen is what you want. Created by Jaxbot (maker of the WP7 Homescreen), he just recently released his own WP7 like lock screen that brings that peek view that makes WP7 special, to your WVGA device. The lock screen shows your SMS, phone, date, time, and even your great (user decided) wallpaper.
This is a freeware, and as such you can download and try it right away.

Are the changes Windows Phone 7 going through good in your eyes? (Updated)
Windows Phone 7 has been seeing many changes, enough that one of our editors had a change of heart (that he should be posting soon
) and I am sure many of you have seen a change as well. Pocketnow, app developers, and other sites have brought many videos demoing what seems to be the next great OS. These videos have made me especially happy because now I know Microsoft has not kept me waiting for nothing, more importantly that my next device should rock.
These are the features that I have seen and have loved:
- Xbox Live
- Zune Music Player(with great design)
- App Collection(videos have shown a lot)
- Smooth Web browser
- Animated Hubs (People, Xbox, etc.)
- Limited Specification(which will extinguish the variation problem WM and Android devices are facing)
- Focus on social, communication, and improvements.
Those are some things that come to mind when I think of why I will be buying a Windows Phone 7 device on launch date. I am sure many of you can also make a list similar of what you like, or what you do not like and why you will not buy it. There are many positives and negatives to what has become Windows Phone, and I think (for me) I can say there are more positives on my list than negatives.
Make a list and comment below, tell the world what you will be doing come launch date.
Update: As requested here are some of the nagetives that could possible make me miss that change exit and speed of to something else.
- HomeScreen (I do like the hub, but I think it looks really boring, like something I would get bored of after a few months)
- Side Loading of apps (To be honest I have yet to pay for any apps, I ether get it for review or get it some other way
and now I cannot get it on my device) - File Manager (I want to have my secret folder that only I know of and can go to for my stuff… I don’t want my “videos” to be found by anyone that goes to the right hub)
- Copy and Paste (This one is nothing big because I cannot remember the last time I actually used it, but I would feel better knowing I can)
Now that is why I said my negatives beat the positives, but my home Screen negative is the worst of them all, and has me thinking. I mean I am bored of Sense UI (I know that is impossible), I am bored of Sense (Android version), I am bored of Titanium (how long could that have lasted), and the only thing I use now is SlideScreen (Android home screen) and No homescreen on my HD2. I would rather have nothing that bores me than something that takes a longer time to load.
Microsoft confirms HTML e-mail support in Windows Phone 7
Yesterday I watched the video of Pocketnow saying their early build of Windows Phone 7 does not support HTML. Since that is such an important part of my morning activity(reading junk mails from Target) I thought I should ask the WP7 development team when it will be supported. I emailed them last night before seeing the video posted by us demoing how HTML mail looked. Now I did not email them back to tell them I saw my answer, so here is what I received today.
Will Windows Phone 7 support HTML emails at launch:
Windows Phone 7 will support HTML emails. Assuming this question is based on Brandon Miniman’s video (which I see you’ve covered today based on a developer’s response).
Will there be a unified email account:
I assume you’re referring to a unified inbox. Microsoft hasn’t announced any information regarding future versions of Windows Phone, though steps have been taken in Windows Phone 7 to help users manage their inbox. For example, in Windows Phone 7, email is organized and designed to make common tasks quick and simple with new tabs, notifications and search capabilities (Outlook filtering and flags, support for multiple EAS accounts etc…).
What does Joe Belfiore use on his hair:
As for Joe, the only product I know with certainty he uses is a Windows Phone.
![]()
Well those are all the questions I asked them for the moments. I can always ask them more questions… so If any comes to mind, let me know.
Update: Apparently the video Brandon made was with a device that has what seems to be an old build… So that is why he did not have HTML support.
Update V2: Our editor and current premier Windows Phone 7 developer I3v5y says the build does have HTML support, just was not downloaded for Brandon.
Microsoft Spending Mad Cow Money On Windows Phone Launch
We all know Microsoft has a wallet larger than 14 jumbo jet full of thousand dollar bills, well it seems they will be crashing one of their jumbo’s straight to Windows Phones 7 related affairs. This news comes from TechCrunch, who speaks of an interview by Jonathan Goldberg, a telecommunications analyst at Deutsche Bank. He estimates that Microsoft will spend $400 million on marketing alone for the Windows Phone 7 launch.
Now this article also mention the Droid one and I think I should talk about it too. I remember when the first Droid came out and you couldn’t go 5minutes without an ad going right in your face. After all those ads, the Droid dropped and just about everyone I knew wanted one. Granted the phone was pretty good looking, I think with the right marketing team Microsoft could get some iPhone like sales on the first run (or atleast Droid).
Now that’s just marketing… Microsoft plans to save you money on apps and phones too. They are spending a few good millions on developers and manufacturers, so they can get everything ready for launch.
“We have a long-term view and Microsoft has been in this position before in other businesses where we’ve had to take a long-term view,” says Microsoft senior product manager Greg Sullivan, who would not comment on the estimates. “The mobile phone market is growing by leaps and bounds, but it’s still in the early stages.”
The following statement is true. Not everyone owns an iPhone or a Droid and so they still have mind share to capture.
“This is make-or-break for them. They need to do whatever it takes to stay in the game,” says Goldberg. “It’s still wide open. They don’t have to take share from Android or Apple, so long as they can attract enough consumers switching from feature phones

LG C900 Just Said bonjour, comment allez-vous To the FCC

We have seen many pictures of new LG devices that will run Windows Phone 7. This article is about the LG C900, a Windows Phone 7 device that has a decent look and a slide out keyboard.
The device just made its way through the FCC’s research and inspection center, and it seems it’s on its way straight to AT&T’s nationwide stores. This is great to know since we have been seeing many rumors, and this is one of the first to actually come true (sadly).

Windows Phone 7 Xbox Hub Must/Will Not Fail
Being in a special family we are all different, I love phones, my oldest brother loves cars, and my other brother loves games. The game lover just tapped my shoulder and told me of some awesome news regarding Windows Phone 7 Xbox live games (news that was already posted here). This news was quickly followed by a statement that went a little like this “Xbox still sucks though, I mean come on, they are losing all their exclusives like Mass Effect *coming soon to the ps3*”.
I thought it would be important to share my thoughts about WP7’s Xbox Live Integration, and so here it is:
Android On My HD2… Three Days And Counting
Just a few days ago, I wrote this article talking about what a good job HTC did with the HD2. One of the commenter’s called Bug Blatter left a note talking about how awesome Android ran on his device is. After following the link he left in the comment, I found myself running Android on my device regularly.
I have been using it for just about three days now, and wow is it smooth. The porters did a great job, and after a couple of day I can say I am enjoying the time I have with Android. The main reason I like it so much is because I have been addictively playing Need For Speed Shift ![]()
![]()
ever since I got Android going. The game is very interesting and I am sad Windows Mobile does not have it. Other things that rocks about having my HD2 run Android is the amount of apps I found in the app store, and the speed test app that I can finally use to determine my networks connection.
I am now back on the Windows Mobile side, but I will return tonight to Android just to play a little game and I will return with the comfort knowing all my settings are the same.
One thing about all this. My HD2 was recorded better than just about ever other available Android device. Talk about a moment of happiness. So if any Android owner talks about their phone being faster than mine, ill say… “hay, read the stats, I win”.
Windows Phone 7 Calendar Demoed… In German
The Windows Phone 7 video above was posted by pocketpc.ch, and they take some time to show off how awesome the Calendar client is. The video takes you through the main features of the calendar, and even the way multiple calendar sources are handled.
Sadly since I cannot understand what they are saying, I will just let you interpret it yourself and enjoy. The only thing I want to add about this is… The calendar looks like they put very much thoughts about the functions and I am liking the consistent look throughout the system.
