Having that Windows Phone 7 feel while you wait seems to have become important to some, and if that is you, this new lock screen is what you want. Created by Jaxbot (maker of the WP7 Homescreen), he just recently released his own WP7 like lock screen that brings that peek view that makes WP7 special, to your WVGA device. The lock screen shows your SMS, phone, date, time, and even your great (user decided) wallpaper.

This is a freeware, and as such you can download and try it right away.

FingerPrint Lockscreen: Scan Yourself Into The Future

Having a cool lock screen is something crucial in having a phone your comfortable with, and this lock screen is one of those I would call cool. This fingerprint lock screen has been featured on our site before, but this time it comes with a great video. The video done by 1800PPC, and is a great demo of what you will get if you install this on your device. It shows of how the lock screen handles your finger, and the settings.

I think this software is fairly cool, but it is a bit too plain. A simple lock screen should at least have a good notification area and other things that keep you informed, but this is still a beta software, so that is no big deal just yet.

AmazonIt! – Barcode Amazon price comparison for Windows Mobile

AmazonIt! is a new application by Phil Chaung for windows Mobile which allows shoppers to scan barcodes using their cellphone camera and look up cheaper deals online, in this case in Amazon’s online catalogue.

AmazonIt! uses a converted version of the java library Zxing to detect barcodes. It then uses Amazon’s Product Advertising API in order to retrieve product information.

The application shows not only the price on Amazon, but even more usefully the product ratings, which can help users decide between two seemingly identical offerings. The software will even show if the price of an item has changed since it was last updated, and for more information will launch the product link in your mobile browser.

ArkSwitch Gets A Touch Of HTC

ArkSwitch is one of the simplest, and efficient task switcher. Now this task switcher has a new look to give your HTC device a complete look. The new skin was made by a guy called Showtime7 in the attempt to improve the look, and to be, improve the visibility in the sun light.

The installation process is the easiest, and they even made a short 6 step list for you:

Instructions:
1. Make sure you have ArkSwitch v1.14 installed.
2. [Update 07/02/2010: QVGA tested and working, I will assume it works in VGA and WQVGA as well]~~Make sure your resolution is WVGA; I am not supporting other resolutions. But others may feel free to port it.~~
3. Download attached ZIP file.
4. Quit ArkSwitch if it is running.
5. Extract ZIP contents to ArkSwitch "Theme" folder.
6. Start up ArkSwitch. Done!

If you want to give ArkSwitch a new look, Download and follow the instruction. But if you are running a custom ROM like Energy, then do not worry, they got you cover.

XDA Market Place… Without the Market, More of a Place

It seems after many people have requested, a member has delivered the long awaited XDA application. XDA member davidgiga, has managed to get everything working almost perfect, and now allows you to upload applications, and download them all for free. That takes away on the sellers fee, buying fee, and anything that has fee in the same word.

Here is what the developer had to say:

- an appstore for everyone:
-Developers: Upload your own apps for everyone without paying anything. You can even upload apps only for one specific device.
-Users: Browse through apps for Windows Mobile or apps only for your device ( for example thinks like the flashlight app for the HD2)
and Rate, comment and download them.
Main features:
-Client app for Windows Mobile (WVGA version yet, works also on other devices)
-Webinterface for uploading and managing your apps
-Automatic update function for the client
I’m using my homeserver for this because it’s much more cheaper, so please don’t complain if the server gets slower

New Shopping List App Now Updated

It seems that shopping list apps are now quickly becoming the most popular of them all, and this not so new apps is being updated. The application is very similar to the many other shopping list based apps, but it does one thing the others don’t (for the most part), keep track of the cost. The recent update brought some new features like a slower save time, and fixes for other non English countries.

Hello,
I just finished developing an application to manage the shopping list (called MiCarrito) and I’d like you to test it and provide me with some feedback.
My intention is to publish it on the marketplace (It will be free, of course), but before that I wanted to test it with hardcore users like you, guys.
With MiCarrito you can:
• Sort the shopping list by product categories to make shopping easier and faster.
• Create recipes defining lists of ingredients. Add all the ingredients in a recipe directly to the shopping list.
• Sort product categories in the list to fit the path you usually follow in the supermarket.
• Develop new products and categories, and re-assign products to a different category.
• For each product you can select the unit of measure and its price.
• For each product you can see the quantity that you bought of that same product during the last week and the last month.
• Synchronize your shopping list with your partner or a friend.
• Once in the supermarket, you can move the products from the shopping list to the shopping cart/trolley. Besides, you can set the current price and see the price it was the last time you bought it.
• As you fill the cart you will see the number of products in it and total amount of your shopping.
Localized in English, Spanish, Russian, Deutsch, Polish, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, French, Hebrew, Danish, Chinese, Korean and Czech.
It has been tested in QVGA, VGA and WVGA resolutions.
