Audio hotfix for the HTC HD mini

Apparently long-suffering HTC HD Mini owners have been having problems with intermittent audio muting during phone calls.

Fear not however, as HTC has a hotfix ready to sort out the problem. As a hotfix it will not delete your data, but a back-up remains advised.

HTC HD2 gets (another) calendar hotfix

New HTC HD2 calendar hotfix now available

The HTC HD2 has just received another calendar hotfix (the last one was last year in December) which enables users to create annually recurring calendar appointments.

The hotfix, which is not applicable to the T-Mobile HTC HD2, should not damage your data, and can be downloaded here. A backup however is still always advised.

HTC HD Mini, Touch Pro 2 gets ‘SMS stability’ update

SMS on HTC HD Mini and Touch Pro 2 should get more 'stable' HTC’s HTC Sense SMS software does not have the best reputation for speed and reliability, and while it seems recent versions of HTC Sense have fixed the issue, this does not help users running carrier ROMs.

Fortunately HTC has decided to take care of current owners by shipping a hotfix for the HTC HD Mini and HTC Touch Pro 2. The update “amends the internal management of SMS functionality, and enhances SMS transmission stability.”, and is suitable for ROM version 1.36.XX on the HTC HD Mini and ROM 2.08.XX for the HTC Touch Pro 2.

The update should leave your data untouched, but a backup is always advised.

HTC HD Mini gets first hotfix to improve “ring tone clarity”

HTC’s cute HD2 sibling, the HTC HD Mini, has just received its first hotfix. Apparently the HVGA device has a problem with ring tone clarity, appropriately addressed by the “HTC HD Mini Ring Tone Clarity Enhancement” Hotfix.

The hotfix should not damage any your user data, but as usual a backup is advised prior to installation.

HTC Touch Diamond 2 now also get a facebook hotfix

It seems the problem plaguing the Facebook client on HTC Sense affects the HTC Touch Diamond 2 too, and HTC is slowly rolling out the fix to its various handsets.

Diamond 2 owners can visit HTC Support here and download the hotfix, which should leave device data intact, but of course a backup is still recommended.

HTC Touch Pro 2 also gets a Facebook Albums hotfix

It seems the HTC HD2 is no the only device having mysterious difficulties viewing contact Facebook albums (clearly a feature no-one uses as I have not heard a single complaint).

In any case, if you are one of the rare ones who suddenly found they can no longer use this feature, HTC has a hotfix for you.

Download the hotfix, which is applicable to all ROM versions, at HTC here. The update should not affect your data, but as usual a backup is recommended.

Another SMS hotfix for HTC HD2

I know many people complained the last SMS hotfix for the HD2 did not fix all their problems. Hopefully this latest version, which is applicable to all devices with ROM 1.66 and below (which is just about any with with official software) will do better.

Another HTC HD2 Hotfix – allows display of SIM contacts

HTC has released another hotfix for the HTC HD2 (why they don’t include a client on the device to download them directly I have no idea).

The latest hotfix is likely to affect only the few who still store contacts on their SIM card, which apparently does not display properly on devices with ROMs lower than 1.59.

Release Date: 2010-01-07

This update for HTC HD2 allows for contacts stored on your SIM card to be properly displayed on your phone along with Phone and Exchange Server contacts

Note: This update is only for ROM versions less than or equal to 1.59.XXX.X.

HTC’s support staff have clearly not gone home for Christmas yet. They have released two hotfixes, one for the HTC Touch Diamond 2 and HTC Touch Pro 2 which brings back hand writing recognition to these devices for users who prefer their graffiti to the hard and soft QWERTY keyboards

GPS Hotfix for HTC Touch Pro

The notorious GPS lag and other GPS issues have been a problem in many recent generation HTC devices. I do not know if this Hotfix solves all these problems, but there is hoping:

Another new HTC Touch HD hotfix is an old one come back

I promise this is the last HTC hotfix for today. A week or so HTC released a hotfix for the HTC Touch HD which was meant to make the slider to answer phone calls more responsive.

This hotfix ended causing more problems than it solved, forcing xda to release a fix for the fix, and forcing HTC to pull theirs.

HTC has now re-upped the fix, and brave XDA’ers have installed it and are happy to report that all is well now, and the problems are gone.

Another HTC hotfix for the HTC Touch HD

Either all the hotfixes for the HTC Touch HD means its incredibly buggy, or that HTC loves it lots.

Either way, HTC Touch HD owners would be happy to hear HTC has released another hotfix for the device.

It fixes the following issue:

Hot Fix to enhance virtual viewfinder in the Camera on the HTC Touch HD

When you use the Camera function to take a picture in a dim environment with super fine quality, sometimes the image will display extraneous (noise) pixels in the viewfinder mode. It’s not a mechanical (LCD) fault but only an intermittent display problem in view finder mode. It does not have any impact on the picture quality or other display functions. If you encounter this problem, please download this hot fix to enhance the virtual viewfinder mode.

Another HTC hotfix, this time for HTC Touch HD

It seems HTC’s engineers have been busy. Today they released another hotfix, this time fixing an annoying bug with the HTC Touch HD which would resulting transient freezing of the device when the screen is tapped multiple times repeatedly.

Hot fix to enhance response time for HTC Touch HD

Sometimes the screen stops responding for about 3 to 5 seconds when running an application that needs to use the stylus to click the screen repeatedly within a short time. For example, the windows built-in software like SMS, email, solitaire, etc

A bit of a warning – some users have reported issues with this update. It apparently works well at fixing the screen freeze problem, but many users report transient loss of audio on the receiving side of a phone call, ie. the people you call cant hear you for a few second. It may be wise to give this hotfix a few days to percolate more.
