Windows Phone Launches Officially In China With HTC Eternity On Sale

Microsoft today marked the official launch of a Chinese-customised version of Windows Phone with an event in Beijing showing of the user interface on the HTC Eternity (so far called the HTC Triumph, and better known as the HTC Titan).
The Chinese version of Windows Phone retains the Metro Design even with the inherent beauty of Chinese characters and supports both simplified and traditional Chinese languages.
The HTC Eternity (HTC Titan elsewhere) with a 4.7-inch screen, front- and rear-facing cameras along with popular Chinese apps is going on sale from today and should be followed by Nokia, ZTE and other OEMs soon. The Marketplace launches in China with 2000 apps.
At launch however the OS will lack deep integration with Chinese social networks – this will however come in May 2012.

Allaboutphones.nl has nailed down the specs of the HTC Radar and the HTC Titan, and has revealed that the HTC Radar is indeed a lower-end device, with only a 1 Ghz processor and 5 megapixel camera, and also a 3.8 inch screen with SRS sound. According to Prof Thibault it has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor as the HTC Titan, only running at a slower clock speed.
The HTC Titan is of course the more premium handset with a 4.7 inch screen, 1.5 Ghz processor and 8 megapixel camera with wide-angle camera. The handset also has an aluminium unibody design.
The handset has 768 MB of RAM, a 1600 mAH battery, weights 160 grams and is 131x71x9.9mm.

HTC Titan (HTC Eternity) confirmed to have a 4.7 inch screen

HTC has started its meeting in Paris, and has confirmed the rumoured screen size of the HTC Titan, formerly the HTC Eternity.
The device is confirmed to have a massive 4.7 inch screen, one of the largest in the market, only exceeded recently (for a phone) by the Samsung Note.
HTC also confirmed the HTC Radar (formerly HTC Omega) has an aluminium unibody design with a wide-angle 28mm camera, but only 5 megapixel. The phone also has a 1 Ghz processor.
Both cameras will feature a burst mode, which can take 5 pictures in a row, and a panorama mode, which takes 3 pictures.
Both handsets are expected in the October/November time frame.
HTC Eternity specs, render show up online

A new render of the HTC Eternity has shown up at an online retailer, accompanied by specs.
The device shows the same familiar shell, and the specs insist the handset has a 1.5 Ghz processor, 8 megapixel camera, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 16 GB storage, DLNA and the other usual goodies.
Of note however is that the specs also claim there is not a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Everything should become clear later today, as the handset is expected to be shown off at HTC events all around Europe in a few hours.
See the full specs after the break.
HTC Eternity passes through FCC
Pocketnow have just noticed the HTC PI39110 attempting to slip through the FCC. The handset, which has AT&T 3G frequencies (850 and 1900 Mhz) has shown up earlier in the UAProf record for the TITAN X310e, which has been labelled earlier as the HTC Eternity.
The HTC Eternity is said to have a 4.5 or 4.7 inch screen, 8 megapixel camera and 1.5 Ghz processor.
If all the chains in the line of reasoning holds, we may just have seen the HTC Eternity pass through the FCC, possibly on its way to a happy home on AT&T.

HTC Omega is HTC Radar, HTC Eternity is HTC Titan

Tezawaly from Nanapho.jp has dug up some UAProfs files from HTC’s website which rather conclusively show that the final names of the HTC Omega will be the HTC Radar, and that of the HTC Eternity would be the HTC Titan.
The UAProfs entries plus leaked codenames from the WP Bench app show the HTC Radar C110e is HTC Omega and HTC TITAN X310e is HTC Eternity. Long time Windows Mobile users will remember the HTC Titan as a small screened slider, but of course the HTC Eternity, which is expected to sport a 4.5 inch screen, is the furthest possible from that design.
With the HTC Radar having a front-facing camera I think we can now safely assume the HTC Titan will come with that feature also, with the leaked specs saying it sported a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera.

BGR: HTC Eternity and HTC Omega being announced on September 1st

The BGR is claiming to have inside sources confirming that HTC will be announcing two Windows Phone 7.5 handsets on the 1st September.
The two handsets have been leaked earlier – the HTC Eternity, which only has a 3.7 inch screen, and the HTC Omega, with a 4.5 inch screen.
The Eternity is aimed for AT&T, while the Omega, likely a HTC HD7 successor, will be going to T-Mobile USA.
When previously leaked, both devices were meant to feature 1.5 Ghz processors and 8 megapixel cameras, and both had DLNA.
According to BGR the handsets may hit the market “sooner than expected”.
Thanks WPCentras.lt for the tip.
HTC Omega and HTC Eternity cases turn up

We first heard about the HTC Eternity and HTC Omega some time ago. Then the Eternity was said to have an unprecedented 4.7 inch screen and 1.5 Ghz processor, while the Omega was a more mundane 3.8 incher.
The devices were also said to have 8 megapixel cameras and features such as DLNA, with the Eternity said to have microHDMI out.
We heard a lot more about the HTC Eternity since then, including a leaked render and specs. Now Pocketnow have managed to spot some cases for the hopefully upcoming handsets on alibaba, a B2B market often used by small Asian ODMs.
Hopefully the cases are more confirmation that the handsets are real and will be making it to market soon, with the HTC Eternity at least being a much needed hero device for Windows Phone 7 in USA.
HTC Eternity size compared to other Windows Phones

The HTC Eternity (specs here), if real, would be the largest Windows Phone 7 handset to date, with a massive 4.7 inch Super-LCD screen.
Of course the question arises if this device will even be pocketable and how it compares to existing devices.
From this to-scale picture, one can see that the main effect is that the handset will be significantly taller than existing devices, and that it is only slight wider than the HTC HD7. The handset is also as slim as the Samsung Focus, which should ameliorate somewhat the size.
Interestingly the HTC HD7’s screen is closer to being "’border to border’, likely due to the front facing camera at the top right corner of the HTC Eternity.
What do our readers think? Is the price in bulk made up for by the massive screen and great specs? Let us know below.

HTC Eternity has dream specs for Windows Phone 7 Mango
Click for larger version.
HTCinside has leaked the product specs of a rather amazing new Windows Phone 7 Mango handset from HTC arriving this fall.
The device has a massive 4.7 inch WVGA screen, 1.5 Ghz processor, 8 megapixel camera for 720 p video recording, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, 16 GB storage and niceties like DLNA support.
All this in a package only 9.9 mm thick and still with a 1650 mAH battery.
We have heard about this handset before, in May, when the screen was said to be AMOLED rather than Super-LCD, but of course that is the kind of change one can really expect to occur. The device was also said to have microHDMI out, another convenient and welcome feature.
What do our readers think? Real or fantasy? Let us know below.

Rumour: 9 new Windows Phones to be shown off on the 24th
We have received another tasty rumour, and as usual can not resist passing it on.
We are all expecting to hear a lot more about Mango on the 24th, and we are also expecting to have the Windows Phone 7.5 emulator released to developers.
What no-one is expecting is new devices to be shown off, but this is exactly what our tipster is telling us.
According to him/her we can expect around 9 devices to be announced – 2 from HTC, 2 from Acer, one from Dell (the Dell Wrigley) and a massive 4 from Samsung, some of which resemble the Samsung Galaxy S2.
The handsets are not necessarily expected to be released soon; in fact they are likely aimed for the holiday season, which would likely put a further damper on current Windows Phone 7 sales. On the other hand it gets increasingly difficult to keep handsets secret when they enter carrier testing, so officially announcing them 3-4 months before release may not be such an issue.
As usual we do not have any corroboration for this rumour, but unlike the last one we should know very, very soon if its true or not.
Special thanks of course to our anonymous tipster.
HTC Omega and HTC Eternity may be new Windows Phone 7.5 handsets
We have just received an intriguing tip claiming two new Windows Phone 7.5 handsets are on the way.
According to our anonymous tipster the HTC Eternity will run Mango, feature a massive 4.7 inch AMOLED screen, wide-angle 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, DLNA and microHDMI out.
The HTC Omega on the other hand will be a lower end device, similar to the HTC Trophy, with a 3.8 inch SLCD screen, wide-angle 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and DLNA support.
Both handsets are said to feature 1.5 Ghz processors, similar to HTC’s tablets which have recently been leaked.
HTC does not currently own the trademarks to these names, and we can find no reference to the devices elsewhere. Until we can find such verification the info will remain a rumour, but a pretty sweet one at that.
Thanks to our anonymous tipster, and if anyone else has any pictures to share please use our contact form above.
