Nokia Lumia Device Launch Flash Mobs In India (Video)

Nokia India arranged for simultaneous events in 5 Indian cities Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkata to promote its Nokia Lumia device launch. All the events were held in a mall with Nokia Arc at the center with various promotions. Nokia even arranged for a Flash mob in all the malls which started simultaneously across all the cities. You can watch the event video above which was shot using Nokia Lumia 800.

Nokia Lumia 800 Pre-Orders Begins In India At Nokia Priority Dealers

As previously announced by Nokia, Nokia Lumia 800 is coming to India this December. Nokia Priority Dealers (Nokia Exclusive Stores) are now taking pre-orders for Nokia Lumia 800starting from Rs.3000. The pre-order price of the device is Rs.30,000 ($600) which is almost same as the unlocked device price in European Lumia launch countries. Pricing will be more critical to the success of Lumia 800 in India where Apple’s iPhone 4S now costs $1000, Droid Razr costs $700, etc,. We also got information that Nokia Lumia 710 launch may be pushed to February 2012 in India.

Nokia aims to take 50% of the Indian smartphone market

Lumia-800 Nokia has announced its intent to take over 50 per cent market share in India in 2012.

While its cheap S40 based ASHA line will be its mainstay, they will also be releasing the two Lumia models there early next year.

"Our target share should always be more than half of the total market…I think we would be able to get there in 2012 by focusing on great innovative products, great delivery and experience at retail points, services and content integration," Nokia India Vice-President and Managing Director D Shivakumar told reporters here.

To support the launch of Lumia phones in India, the company has plans to give demonstrations and let consumers experience the new phones at over 5,000 retail points.

Nokia and Microsoft are training about 12,000 people for this. On the day of the launch, all the employees of Nokia’s corporate office in India will be selling phones at stores, Shivakumar said.
"It is the most important launch for us and the benchmark that we have set for ourselves is that it must be the most impactful consumer products launch in the country," he added.

Nokia says its retail partners and operators have committed to invest three times more on he marketing and promotion of the new phones, compared to earlier launches.

Developer news: Chinese developers can submit apps, Indian users can buy and both NoDo and Mango apps can be maintained

Microsoft has announced the expansion of the Windows Phone 7 marketplace to India, meaning Windows phone 7 users with a Live ID registered to India are now able to buy apps and Games in Marketplace.

While Chinese users are still not able to buy apps, Chinese developers can now however start submitting apps to Marketplace, allowing Microsoft to tap another huge source of talent.

Lastly, Microsoft has now released a solution for the Frozen NoDo app problem, where developers were not able to update the NoDo version of their app after upgrading it to Mango. Both versions of the apps are now independently updatable, meaning there should be no hesitation by developers in upgrading their apps to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.

Official Windows Phone Launch In India On Oct-12th By Microsoft

At last, Microsoft is going to launch Windows Phone devices in India officially. First generation Windows Phone devices were on sale in India for about a year even without official marketplace support. HTC, Dell,etc sold their phones in India without marketplace support which created a bad experience among consumers. But now, Microsoft has expanded its marketplace to India with Windows Phone Mango which is a good move and they are going to officially launch it on Oct-12th. Samsung revealed its Windows Phone 7.5 device Samsung Omnia W for India and HTC is expected to announce its 2nd generation devices in India next week along with Microsoft’s announcement.

Letsbuy.com now lists Dell Venue Pro just for Rs.23,999, a 31% off from its original price amount by Dell India. Its now cheaper than HTC Mozart and HTC HD7, the two famous Windows Phone devices in India. It also comes with free delivery as well. WP7 Marketplace disappears from India

nfs With as much fanfare as with which it arrived (ie none) Marketplace for Windows Phone 7 disappeared in India.

We reported on the app store showing up on desktops (but not phones) in India on the 2 April 2011, and since yesterday the service is no longer available.

According to WPSauce Microsoft has not responded to requests for comment on the issue. Several Windows phone 7 handsets are sold officially in India, but with no Marketplace there users are forced to resort to spoofing their location, which is problematic when the marketplace will eventually roll out to the region.

Zune Marketplace getting ready to launch in India? Update: Confirmed

We have just received a tip that one of our readers in India has just had the Zune Marketplace become available in their region, with the content priced in Rupees.

This has been happening on and off over the last few months, and may indicate Microsoft getting ready to officially roll out the service to more parts of the world. HTC has already officially launched the HTC HD7 in India, creating a far from ideal solution of not being able to have any apps on your phone unless you hack it.
