AnyData ASP-518 at MWC 10
We saw AnyData’s devices in render earlier, but now we have some pictures taken at Mobile World Congress of the smartphones in real life.
The Phillips branded phone is intended for the Chinese market and deliver a media experience. The ASP-518 smartphone features Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional, GPS navigation, a brilliant 3.2-inch WVGA screen, WiFi, 4 gigabytes of memory, as well as a micro SD memory slot.
The smartphone also has dual cameras, namely a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera for taking high-quality photos and a front-facing camera to enable mobile video-conferencing and features the MSM7627 3G processor from Qualcomm.
The ASP-518 will also be equipped with superb audio that utilizes SRS technology. Audio performance has become a significant purchasing factor as consumers shop for more sophisticated phones. In a recent MarketTools study conducted in November 2009, 92 percent of survey respondents indicated the quality of sound is important or very important when purchasing a mobile phone.

Great 3D game on the Toshiba TG02
Gra 3D na Toshibie TG02 from pda.pl on Vimeo.
Here is another great video recorded by PDA.pl, showing the Toshiba TG02 running an amazing 3D game demo. Hopefully we will see more of these quality games released over the next few months.
DLNA demoed on Toshiba TG02
DLNA by Toshiba on TG02 from pda.pl on Vimeo.
Stealing more content from our polish friends, the above video taken at Mobile World Congress shows a great implementation of DLNA on the Toshiba TG02, making it appear rather effortless to throw music, video and photos onto your big screen or view it on your small one.
DLNA is a consumer feature we often see from companies like Toshiba and Samsung who have consumer electronics heritages, rather than from HTC who have no connection at all to your living room, and may be one of these features which would tempt a buyer into getting a TG02 rather than a HD2.
Are anyone using DLNA on their phones? Let us know your experience below.
MWC 10: Hands-on with the Toshiba TG02
Above is our last video from Mobile World Congress 2010, featuring a hands-on with the lovely Toshiba TG02.
The handset appears much smaller and slimmer than previously, and of course now features a capacitive screen. Unfortunately it seems Toshiba has merely thrown together a bundle of third party software which fail to show the device to best effect, resulting in for example the extremely finger-unfriendly Core Player being used on a capacitive screen and software which does not respond to the accelerometer for example.
Could Toshiba have done more to make the device compelling? Let us know below.
Acer neoTouch P300 hands-on video
Above we have the Acer neoTouch P300 Windows Mobile 6.5.3 QWERTY slider. Even lower resolution than the P400, this 3.2 inch device only has WQVGA resolution, and sports the old Qualcomm 7225 528 Mhz chipset..
Hopefully these bottom of the line specs will also indicate a bargain basement price, else the device will hardly be competitive with anything else around.
What do our readers think? Let us know below.

MWC 10: Acer P400 hands-on
Here is a video of us fumbling with an Acer P400 handset at Mobile World Congress. Clearly running Windows Mobile 6.5.3, the Half-VGA 3.2 inch small screen of the handset appears to be overwhelmed by the giant menus of the OS update designed for a capacitive screen, which the P400 does not have.
The handset is aimed for a May 2010 launch.

MWC 10: HTC HD mini handson video
Here we have a 7 minute fondle of the new HTC HD2 mini. The device is obviously well designed, and we can see pinch to zoom both in Opera and IE (which seems to be the default browser). The browser itself appears surprisingly responsive for a 600 Mhz processor, suggesting Microsoft has continued working on speeding up IE Mobile.
Also of note is that the version of TouchFlo is 2.5, and not the earlier 2.1 designed for slower processors.
Lastly, looking at the text on the screen, I feel the lower Half VGA resolution is quite noticeable. What do our readers think? Let us know below.
MWC 10: Another Toshiba TG02 video
WMExperts has published this video from Mobile World Congress showing the Toshiba TG02, which amazingly is actually thinner than the already svelte TG01, and with its current software, which is based on Windows Mobile 6.5.3 and SPB Mobile Shell, appears to be incredibly smooth and responsive, no doubt helped by the capacitive screen.
Pity SPB’s interface is so confusing, as can clearly be seen from the video.
The Toshiba TG02 appears to be a clear HTC HD2 competitor. Do you agree? Let us know below.
HTC press conference at Mobile World Congress 2010 – HTC’s kaizen
We gave up one-on-one briefing with Microsoft to be in this press conference. Did it pay off? What is the spirit at HTC after big announcement of Microsoft regarding Windows Phone 7 Series?
Sony Ericsson Aspen video demo
In the above video we have a demo of the Sony Ericsson Aspen Windows Mobile 6.5.3 smartphone taken at Mobile World Congress.
The smartphone is surprisingly smooth and fast, and the design quite attractive. It is expected to come to market towards the end of summer 2010.
HTC HD2 spotted running Windows Phone 7!!! Backward compatibility confirmed!
In pretty exciting news for HTC HD2 owners (amongst which I count myself as one). The smartphone was spotted at Mobile World Congress running Windows Phone 7 series. (I only assumed this part, but it is not actually explicitly said in the source article)
Winmo.nl reports some very important information:
- The device had a current copy of TomTom installed, which launched and ran perfectly fine! So much for no backward compatibility.
- It ran fast, faster than the HTC HD2 runs on WM 6.5.
- Lastly, the software was multi-lingual out of the box.
As mentioned earlier, this is great news for HTC HD2 owners. Even if HTC never releases an official upgrade it will not be long before this ROM leaks. In fact HD2 owners may end up running WP7 well before anyone else!

Thanks JVP for the tip.
MWC 10: More pictures of the Toshiba TG02
Click for larger versions.
We also went back for some more pictures of the Toshiba TG02, which fortunately did have a working unit available. The device is certainly a lot smaller than the original TG01, and is said to be even faster, and sports a capacitive screen, which unfortunately does not have any multi-touch features out of the box.
As can be seen from the picture above, it also runs SPB Mobile Shell, an improvement on the original Toshiba UI.
We have also recorded some video, which will be available later.
See more pictures after the break.
MWC 10: More pictures of the Toshiba K01
We made an extra trip to the Toshiba stand for more pictures of the Toshiba K01. Unfortunately there was no working device, just a demo unit, but it still gives a good idea of the design of the device.
