Verizon Wireless laying down LTE plans
Verizon wireless is the United State’s current 3G king with the largest 3G map, well it seems that 3 might become a 4 very soon. BGR just yesterday announced that a webcast starting 11 AM ET on Wednesday, January 23, 2010 which is today will have all this info. The webcast will go over the new 4G specification for devices that will run on Verizon’s 700MHZ LTE network.
The Updates will include information on address network access, SMS requirements, data retry tests, lab and signaling conformance, and details on the device approval and introduction process.
The current speed the LTE network is aimed at is about 12Mbps,and they are planning to launch LTE in 25 to 30 markets in 2010 and maybe even take over their current 3G map with LTE by the end of 2013. We’re sure there will be a map for that when Verizon’s 4G finally launches.
This will make Verizon the largest 4G network in 2010 because Sprint has yet to roll their network into a wider market. They are taking a long time to get a 4G device on there network out, but they have been working on some Windows Mobile Wimax devices which should be coming soon. This news is good news which should mean that we might start to see some 4G LTE and Wimax Windows Mobile devices soon.

Hello readers, I am here to give you a little preview of what is to come each night of the week. Each day of this week I will have a comparison each of these devices, the droid, the Eris, the storm2 and the touchpro2. At the end of the week I will be doing a post about my favorite alternative to the Touchpro2, so look forward to those things coming up this week.
Free IP and Cab signing utilities
Jason Langridge’s Weblog reports on two free utilities released by by Enterprise Mobile.
The first is the Enterprise Mobile IP Utility for Windows Mobile Devices which allows you to troubleshoot IP connections using functions such as PING on both Pocket PCs and Smartphones.
The utility features:
- IP Configuration – View and renew IP configuration for all network interfaces on the device
- Ping – Simple ping to any destination host name or IP address
- Trace Route – Trace route from the device to any destination host name or IP address
- Ping Sweep – Ping a sequential range of IP addresses in a subnet
- Speed Test – Check the current bandwidth speed of your device connection to the internet
- Logging – All results of IP Configuration, ping and trace route operations are logged to a text file for collection or sharing

The second Cab Signing Utility is a desktop app used to sign CAB files are used for installing applications on Windows Mobile devices. When the installation and execution security policy is enabled on Windows Mobile devices, all CAB files must be signed prior to deployment onto a device. Microsoft provides a command line tool, cabsigntool.exe, to sign CAB files which requires the administrator to understand and configure a number of parameters making the process both time-consuming and cumbersome.
- A GUI interface for signing CAB files minimizes the chance of errors while expediting the process.
- Replace existing CAB file signatures with your own signature.
- Sign multiple CAB files at once.
