HTC Acquires Dashwire, A Cloud Sync Platform Startup
HTC today announced its acquisition of Dashwire, a Seattle based startup that is offering Cloud Sync platform for mobile operators, device makers and retailers for $18.5 million. Currently Dashwire supports Android, Windows Mobile (Yes, Not Windows Phone), Symbian and BlackBerry. HTC may incorporate Dashwire’s technology into its HTC Sense offerings for its smartphones. So far, HTC Sense is only seen on Android devices, but that doesn’t mean it wont come to Windows Phones. Also BGR reports that HTC made Dashwire acquisition because Dashwire and Intellectual Ventures (IV®) announced last year that Dashwire has become a customer of IV and has acquired patents to use for defensive purposes. HTC may use them against Apple in their on going IP battle.
HTC’s phone dialler Sense enhancements demoed
Pocketnow have published this video demonstrating HTC’s enhancements to the Windows Phone 7 dialler, which brings much of the tweaks we have become used to in HTC Sense on Windows Mobile.
The software comes in a separate download, HTC Attentive Phone, which we have written about previously, which allows one to do flip to mute, flip to turn on the speaker phone, enable louder ringer when the proximity sensor is active, and lastly reduce the volume of the ring tone when the phone is picked up.
Like much of the software which are currently differentiating devices, the software will only be available via HTC’s OEM specific marketplace, and not be available on other devices.
Rss Feed Tab For Sense… Wah?

Reading the XDA blog is something I do regularly (since I am suppose to be writing for it), and I just found a little something that you might be interested in. This new development originates from the forums, where members are working hard at bringing the RSS software to your home screen.
The project seems to have quite a bit of things going for it, but sadly I cannot confirm due to XDA being down for maintenance.
Here is what the blog post included:
The plan is for this project will be open as possible and allow new developers to have a go, I would like to make this accessible as possible.
There is plenty which can be done, by all ranges of skill levels so have a look through and give things a try and ask some questions if you get stuck. The aim initially is to develop a fully working RSS Tab, which everyone can add and contribute to then, using the same methods, many other tabs can be created.
Other than that, you will have to wait till XDA is back up. When it returns the thread will have all the information you need.
HTC Sense in WP7???
Engadget is reporting via Forbes that the Sense UI will appear on HTC’s Windows phone devices.
Drew Bamford, who heads HTC’s user experience design team, tells Forbes the manufacturer is applying Sense to its first Windows Phone 7 devices, which are expected to launch in October.
Later in the Forbes article, he clarifies that even though they are not allowed to modify the core experience like in the previous versions of the OS, they can still augment it with their special sauce. Among the ideas he envisions for the future of Sense include, easier discoverability and sharing of media, app recommendations to friends and better syncing and data streaming between the devices and the cloud.
As I read the article, I felt like banging my head on the table because WP7 already offers all the functions he mentioned out of the box! So out of curiosity, how do you guys think Sense will look like on WP7 and in what form (Hub, Live tile, dedicated app?) I myself think it is redundant and they should not even bother.
HTC HD2 Android Port Going Faster Than The Speed Of Love (???)

It’s no question that many people have been asking for an Android port for their HD2, well it seems the Htc_Linux team is giving you it all at a fast speed. If you are not a follower of the leader, you will not know about the progress they have been having. In less than a week they have achieved many things, things that take other porting teams two or more to do. This speed is very surprising because just a little more than a month ago, having Android on the HD2 was impossible.
Here are the most recent achievements.

HTC HD2 Android Video
The Android port for the HTC HD2 has been making news on just about ever site that reports on Windows Mobile news, now this video is here to give you a preview of what you would get if you tried it. The video illustrates the Herat loading, startup, and app loading process of this port. The port is a bit slow, and I say this with experience but that comes from it being one of the first releases.
The port has the new Mario wallpaper that was released on XDA earlier this week, and the main build is Android 2.1.
If you follow the developers, you will know that the development of Android for the HD2 is the fastest in history. Everyday he tweets about the newest updates for the port. Today one of the developers figured out the Wi-Fi connection. Yesterday they figured out all the sensors like G-sensor, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor, don’t forget the compass support. Tomorrow ill bet they will get 3G going, and in two weeks… They should have the GPS support handy.
I will try and get another statement from the developer and how this has all been going for them, and will post it here.
Comment below and tell us what you think of the HDEvo2, and hopefully you will give the port a try. Do not forget to follow the developer to stay up to date on their ports.
HTC Sense Theme… For The 15 Year Old In You

The Windows Phone world is compiled with not only business men but teens that found some fashion desire in a device. Well for the teens in the world that read this site, here is a new look I am sure you would love on your device. The device theme is based on Buuf icons (Rurph), and with the icon outline of iReflect, and background by popdog54.
You can try the theme out, but before… watch this quick demo video:
Frequently asked questions:
Q: Is there an all-in-one cab for this theme?
A: At the moment there is no such cab. The reasons are first, we have made several versions for the same parts (like analogue/digital clocks, sliders), so people can choose the one they like and second, since we are still working on the theme, it is easier for us to deal with any bugs/problems having seperate cabs.
Q: Will there be an all-in-one cab?
A: Yes, once we comlete customising all parts.
Q: Do I need to install Cookie´s Home Tab first?
A: Apart from the analogue clocks/cht-addons, you don´t need, but it is adviceably to get the full advantage of your phone and the theme.
Q: Do I need to have Manila/Sence 2.5?
A: Yes
Q: How to install the parts?
A: Download a zip file to your pc, extract & copy a cab file to your phone´s internal memory or storage card, using a file explorer on your phone find & tap that cab file, install it on the device and then soft reset/restart your phone.
Some Old SPB Theme But Looks GREAT
How many of you run SPB Mobile Shell? Now how would like the Touch Flow look for it? Well I do. Today while looking for a new UI due to Sense being very slow on my HD2, I came across this old good looking theme at XDA. The theme while old, is one of the best looking theme you can have for SPB (other than the Windows Phone 7 theme by MSKip).
The theme is pretty simple. It changes the look of the bottom controls, the design and background, while adding some Sense like icons/widgets. This is all added with a simple CAB installation, and boom, your device has a sleek, fresh as life look.
If you want to join me in the “Good looking Home Screen” group then download this, install and maybe comment your screen shot or something.

Program Tab Back In Sense 2.5 With Mod
With everyone migrating from 2.1 to 2.5, you forget some things you lost, but a program tab will not be one anymore. The tab for Sense 2.1 has been ported by XDA member to 2.6(from what they said), and now ported to HD2’s 2.5. The mob will change some of your settings, and when you reset, you will get a new program tab on your Sense tab list.
Now the need for this tab is totally not necessary in 2.5 because of all the quick launch icons in the home screen, and other, but some might still want to get this feature back on their device, and this is how.

Cool Theme For CHT and HTC HD2
The HD2 seems to be getting the full development power of XDA, because with all these great things coming out of there, I am not sure what is coming next. The theme was created by XDA member dena994, who managed to get a perfectly clean looking theme that includes everything to improve its look. The theme is a very simple blue(my favorite color) colored theme, with minimal design, simple slider, and clean clock, all in one.
The developer did not include any much specifics on this release, but from the looks of it, I do not need it. I will be installing this application/theme today when I return home, because with blue colors, and simplistic look… I am sold.
Android 2.1 + Sense UI On Touch Pro2
With the growing popularity of Android OS in the mobile smartphone world, Window Mobile developers
have kicked it into over drive, and have been working ever so hard to getting the latest software on our device. In the latest release by XDAndroid, they managed to get the latest Android software(Android 2.2 has yet to be released) running on the Touch Pro2, with the software we all love to see and use… Sense UI.
Now they did not only add new software, but they put some new fixes into it. This release comes with a host of new fixes that can be easily seen from their well documented change log:
- NEW Apr 23 New 2 new builds added to the download section. First we have a 2.1 Android Open Source Project build. This is built by phh using stinedb’s new kitchen. Second we have 2.1 with SENSE UI! Thanks to Klinux for his work on this sqsh!
- NEW Apr 23 New zimage adds 17MB RAM for Android OS use.
- NEW Apr 23 New Startup Utility updates: WinMo auto backlight off/on thanks to bedoig Thread Here

- 3/31 System.sqsh from babijoee! Adds Gallery, Calculator, and Desktop Clock. Updates to some apps as well!

- 3/25 Additions to the Startup Utility! Progress bar & Rootfs.img Auto-Update should also have fixed some compatibility issues, and crashes during the update!

- 3/08 3D Finally working(ish) Will not show Nexus boot screen, or some other 3D apps that require LOTS of RAM. (Remove cmdline "hw3d.force=1" from your startup.txt to go back to the old settings and get your splash screen back)
- 3/08 System.sqsh from babijoee, includes Home++ (you can still select standard Android Home as default)
- 3/08 Startup Utility! (Thanks pieteckhart and DaveShaw, woulda never gotten done otherwise) No more multiple downloads, keyboard selection tool will load before Android Haret.

You can download this port from XDA.
GPS Tab For Touch Flo 3D AKA Sense
While reading the long list of threads on the touch HD2
section of XDA, I found something that might interest those hardcore HTC sense users. This mod/tab was created by a Russian Fed citizen on XDA, whose called xaoc747. He managed to envision a new way to display your compass, and GPS data, and has made it happen with the first release of his new Sense Tab.
This Tab contains many thing going on at once, and I am sure all HTC HD2 users that want the experience will loss a lot of battery in the process. But that’s neither here or there. If you want to have your GPS in your face and easily accessable at all time this tab comes with:
- work with GPS module without using a third-party navigation software
- definition of current position
- definition of object motion parameters for calculation between the current and previous points
- Determination of directions and distances to given calculation points
- recording of tracks (routes) in automatic and manual modes in a format Yandex maps with further viewing them
- an analysis of the tracks (the specified distance route, maximum and average speed on the route and time of movement on the route)
- Work with the payment points (in the format tags Yandex maps)
- sending SMS with your coordinates in the automatic and manual modes for a given number
- to set the maximum speed and control the speed while driving with the gradation by the fine
Now this might not be the best GPS system you will have on your Windows Phones(I personally use iGo,) but for a free software that looks good and comes with all these features… I only have one question, where do I sign up
.
You can download it, and install it with the instructions.
HTC HD now running with Android 2.1 and Sense UI
The World of Windows Mobile has been compromised by Android. The HTC HD, which was once the best Windows Mobile devices is slowly becoming the best Android ported device. Earlier this week an Android port was made for the HD and that port came with Sense UI and Android 2.1 software. That means if you own an HD and have the newest dual booting system, you can get this going on your device. The files can be found on XDA and remember this is not perfect yet, they are some missing things like:
