HTC’s director of user experience interviewed
Feel free to ignore anything after the 22 minute mark in this Engadget show video, during which HTC’s Director of User Experience is interviewed regarding the evolution of HTC’s user experience on their handhelds.
While the most striking feature of this video is Engadget’s bias against Windows Mobile, it is still interesting to see the ongoing design process in action, and see a glimpse of what’s to come in future iterations of HTC Sense.

TouchFlo3D ported to the Samsung Omnia 2 family
Both HTC and Samsung make great hardware, and recently the UI in both camps have been pretty nice also, but the nice thing about Windows Mobile is that its often possible to chose your hardware from one camp and your UI from another.
Chainfire, building on the essential work of GinKage, the developer of an OpenGL ES 1.0 compatibility layer for Omnia, is one of those who makes this possible, and has recently finished the port of the older generation TouchFlo3D to the Samsung Omnia 2.
The version, which can be installed at Modaco, is mostly functional, with a few issues with the audio manager.

New in TouchFlo3D – iPhone-like text selection
Moving to the capacitive screens on the HTC HD2 has led to another of compromises by HTC, and the latest is having to figure out a way to accurately select text.
It seems the came to about the same solution of Apple, involving movable selection bars. It lacks the magnification, but then on a 4.3 inch screen do you really need that?
I suspect, with the magnifier showing up in the latest builds of Windows Mobile 6.5.1, the same features will be built into the later versions of Windows Mobile soon too.

Latest version of TouchFlo3D demoed
Pocketnow have published another video showing the latest improvements HTC has made to the TouchFlo3D that will ship with the HTC HD2.
One interesting feature is close to the end of the video, showing a TV out setting. Whether this has been added due to the base device being the HTC Touch Pro 2, or if this indicated the HTC HD2 will have TV-Out has not been established yet, but we intend to ask the cook on XDA-Dev ourselves and get back to you.
Edit: I have confirmed with Miri, the ROM cook, that the TV-out setting noticed at the end of the video comes from the Touch Pro 2, and that the current HTC HD2 ROM has no TV-out ROM package.
New Windows Mobile 6.5.1 group messaging feature implemented in Touchflo3D
We have seen an interesting Groups feature show up in the latest builds of Windows Mobile 6.5, and the latest builds of TouchFlo3D have come along to add an attractive layer to Microsoft’s implementation.
TouchFlo3D build 2.5.19193431 from XDA has the Groups tab in the HTC contact manager which allows you to send an SMS or email to all members of the group.

More TouchFlo3D 2.5 goodness
Pocketnow have published another video showing the latest updates to TouchFlo3D as will be found in the HTC Leo. As usual the interface makes the boring one on the iPhone appear positively static.

HTC Leo’s TouchFlo3D weather tab animations demoed
We have seen previous videos of the TouchFlo3D on the HTC Leo demoed, but usually the weather tab is described as the same and skipped. Itjlta however took a few moments to record the video animations, and they do look significantly prettier, which can only be a good thing.
The latest rumours out the device as being announced on the 12th, and actually arriving in stores on the 26th. Cant wait!

HTC Leo’s TouchFlo3D demoed, REALLY NICE!
Pocketnow once again has the latest HTC Leo ROM running on their HTC Touch Pro 2, and have published this demo of the features of the software.
The video demo’s changes to the home screen, photo dialler, music, pictures and footprints app, but it is the twitter app which really shines, and shows that HTC is really going after the connected consumer.
I must say I cant wait to have the device, and it seems almost unreal that such an amazing device will reach the market in less than 4 weeks.

New HTC tab brings Twitter to TouchFlo3D
Here’s a pretty cool development. A twitter tab appears to have been added to TouchFlo3D, bringing the functionality found in HTC Sense to the Windows Mobile side. The software has shown up in nrgz28’s HTC Touch Pro 2 ROMs.
While HTC has said they would bring HTC Sense to Windows Mobile they have said they would do it in a distinctive manner consistent with their TouchFlo3D user interface.

Orb integrated into TouchFlo3D
What cant TouchFlo3D do? It seems every day we see another enhancement, and the latest one is pretty cool.
With the latest hack from PPCGeeks you can add an Orb tab directly in TouchFlo3D, meaning your home TV channels are just a few swipes away.
To get this hack on your phone see directions located here and a step by step guide here.

Amazing TouchFlo3D hack brings panoramic wall paper to your smartphone
Now I know this TouchFlo3D mod has been around for a while now, but this is the first time I have seen it demoed, and its pretty cool indeed, and one wonders why HTC did not implement it like this in the first instance.
You too can have this feature on your TouchFlo3D smartphone by following the instructions in this XDA-Developers thread here. A variety of wallpapers are available, and you can add your own also.

Another look at a great Manilla 2.5 mod
We saw a glimpse of this HTC Leo modded ROM from XDA-Deverlopers.com, created using Max TF3D, but this version, demoed on Starbase64’s lovely HTC Touch HD deserved another look, especially as a high quality video shows the sophistication of the work very well.
Does the availability of these kind of mods give you pause in switching from HTC’s Windows Mobile devices to Samsung’s often better specified ones? Let us know in the comments.
New HTC Leo TouchFlo3D skin looks even more Sense-tastic
We all know TouchFlo3D and HTC’s Sense UI are pretty closely connected, which I am sure has played no small part in encouraging TouchFlo3D hackers to re-create its elements using tools like Max TF3D.
This HTC Leo ROM from XDA-Deverlopers.com, running on a Touch Pro 2, seems to bring quite a bit of Sense UI to Windows Mobile. In particular there seems to be the start of a free-floating widget interface and multiple home pages, although at present this seems only to be filled with a selection of clocks.
