TAT 2014 concept looks like AMAZING, like Windows Phone 7

Regular readers will know we are fans of the Swedish design company TAT, who has designed the popular Android UI and also has had some unspecified involvement in Windows Mobile (see our interview with their co-founder here.)

Above is their concept what a mobile phone will look like in 2014, when cheap, flexible and transparent screens are ubiquitous, and interestingly it appears clearly inspired by Windows Phone 7 and its typography-themed user interface.

Hopefully this amazing design house does have a continuing influence on Windows Phone development, and will help bring these dreams to fruition in Windows phone 8 .

They say their design is in 20% of all touch phones… do they mean Android? Because I'm pretty sure Android alone powers at least 20% of all touch phones.

So, except for Android, what other products are there with their design? I like nice concepts, but I hate when I can never buy them.

Also, as far as I know, they have only designed the picture gallery in Android, which, unlike the rest of the UI, isn't very user friendly in my opinion. Android's UI is great and well thought through, but I don't like the gallery.

Oh and by the way:

1) The video looks suspiciously like one from Microsoft, which was released a few months ago. Microsoft showed the same ideas back then in their video.

2) Not only the ideas are the same as the ones in Microsoft's video, the user interfaces also look just like those from Microsoft.

I still wonder how exactly they were involved in the development of Android's UI, as it really is a great UI from a functionality and user experience standpoint, but the look isn't something special.

The WP7 UI looks awesome and also appears very functional to me, but there are some things missing that I hope will get added sooner rather than later. Its "usefulness" is somewhere between iOS and Android. The design is the best, though.

2014??? i think not!! we've hardly met saturation of AMOLED displays, let alone Super AMOLED and in 3 and bit years time, we'll have transperant, flexible displays that will be in mass production and available on mobile handsets?? lol @ TAT… realisticly, think 2020 and beyond..
